The Shepherds Arms Hotel

Stopped in for lunch - pretty typical pub menu, nice food and good selection of beers. Our friend had the veggie burger and particularly enjoyed - burgers looked the best bet. |Nice little outside seating area for a nice day and live sport on the TV if that's your thing.

Family suggested the restaurant at The Shepherds Arms as a great place to have the joint birthday dinner for our adult children. It was a wise decision for our party of 12. The food was delicious and plentiful. And they catered to all of our various dietary requirements with ease, especially being, coeliac. They allowed us to bring in our birthday cakes and prepared them in the kitchen, lighting candles and bring them out with knives to cut and plates. A big thanks to the staff. The entire experience was perfect and I highly recommend them. 10 out of 10.

WARNING. WATCH WHERE YOU PARK. Unexpected parking ticket sours stay at Shepherds Arms. My partner and I had a late night quick sleep at Shepherds Arms after arriving on a ferry late in the evening from Picton. After confirming on site parking for my overnight stay and being told arrangements were made for us to access our room without an individual on the reception desk, I believed all was in order. I found a form to complete on arrival waiting for me and included vehicle registration plate needed to confirm my privilege to park on the hotel property. My stay was perfectly fine. However, three weeks following my stay and upon return to my home country, I received an email from my car rental company informing me my vehicle had been ticketed for anniversary in the parking lot. As per the contract with the car rental company, the ticket was paid and I was charged not only with the ticket but also an administration fee making this a very expensive overnight stay. I contacted the administration of the hotel through their email from their website twice, but after more than a week received no response or even an acknowledgement from the hotel administration. Be advised that Shepherds Arms appears to not be concerned about services offered which lead to significant charges increasing your holiday expenses. I must admit my extreme disappointment that my concern was not even acknowledged nor were any reparations offered.

The room was basic but all I needed. However i recommend the staff investigate the vibration that causes the main window to pulse in time with a motor that was rumning elsewhere in the building. The noise made it very difficult to sleep.

IMPICABLY DELICIOUS! We ordered seafood chowder, half loaf, beef nachos and Asian beef salad - The food was divine! service was fast, welcoming and friendly. They were kind to add a couple of fresh chillis in the chowder as my partner had a cold, it cleared it. We ate everything because it was delicious and the portions were generous YET just right. Fresh Asian beef salad was tender with a very special soy marinade, the coriander and sesame seeds infused the dish - it came with a shot glass of cooked rice on the side too- so cute. The chowder was creamy, not clumpy but smooth, thick and rich - seafood as generous as the beef in the Asian salad. Then the beef nachos...YUM! YUMMY!YYYYYUUUUUMMMMER - the fresh guacamole, and red onion with a dollop of sour cream mixed gave it that punch, then the indulgent melted cheese - loved it how it came in a hot plate that each mouthful was still hot till the last nacho, sometimes you get soggy one BUT NOT THIS PLATE! crunchy, tasty, fresh and the beef mince cooked perfectly. We had a half loaf warm and fluffy inside and had garlic butter melt on it, gorgeously delicious. HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR LUNCH, OR ANYTIME - reasonably priced for generous portions

Said it closes at 10 but we felt pressure to start leaving around 9:30 and then were asked to leave at 9:50. Most places will at least let you sit for a few extra minutes while they clean up. Won't come back

Good quality food and large serving The lamb shanks were melt in your mouth. The waiter was attentive and helpful. I had to return my meal as the vegetables were cold. This was rectified.

Ok for the price, but a quite a few small issues like the remote for tv didn't work,& lights over beds didnt work. Needs a revamp, curtains need a wash or new ones. But awesome service, and meals. And only 10m to Interislander ferry.
