The Intrepid Hotel

We had a great 3 night stay, loved the uniqueness of our room, a nice change from a traditional hotel room. Very comfortable bed, nice shower, best croissants we have ever eaten, I will miss them each morning. We had a nice drink in downstairs bar, and we couldn't hear the noise from the bar from our room on the first floor. I did find the location a bit far from everything we did/restaurants we chose to eat at, about a 20 mins walk to everything, which got a bit tiring in the end. Would highly recommend, even if a bit far from main sites we visited.

The Intrepid Hotel is a gem in the heart of Wellington! The location is unbeatable--steps from fantastic restaurants, cozy cafes, and unique boutiques. The staff is warm and welcoming, and the little touches, like fresh, flaky croissants at breakfast, make the stay feel special. The beds are plush, the showers are strong, and the overall vibe is effortlessly cool. A heads-up for drivers: parking in the area can be tricky. We ran into an issue at a recommended lot due to a pre-pay system we weren't familiar with. That said, the hotel went above and beyond to make things right --a true testament to their hospitality. If you're visiting Wellington, The Intrepid is a stylish, comfortable, and well-located choice. Just plan ahead for parking, and you're in for a fantastic stay!

Love this hotel! We had a gorgeous stay for our anniversary and felt immediately relaxed. The little extras make all the difference, coffee and water stations, croissants in the morning were top notch. The wine bar downstairs is delicious. Staff were super friendly!

Had a wonderful experience staying here! They were very accommodating in room preference and even provided some kind welcome gifts as we were on our honeymoon! The location is great, the staff is kind and very helpful, and the morning croissants are IMPECCABLE. We grabbed one each to take on a walk, and upon the first bites, decided to finish our first one right outside the hotel so we could take a second one on our walk instead.

My husband and I travelled to NZ for a "bucket list" joint 50th birthday trip this year. Our hotel choices were secondary to the itinerary. Where we rested our heads was a distant third to location and convenience.||We were far more than pleasantly surprised with the Intrepid. Mere steps away from Cuba street in the heart of the city, the location was superb. The staff were welcoming and friendly and helpful. The accommodations were also outstanding save for "Henry" the talkative and invisible bird of unknown parentage who likes to wake up at 5:25 AM and tell everyone else they are lazy for trying to sleep in.||Our room was delightfully appointed and dark and quiet (until 5:25 AM, Henry). A perfect place for jet-lagged travelers from TX (until 5:25 AM, Henry). Would highly recommend to anyone traveling to Wellington. Tell Henry we said hello.

Great location, cute and unique hotel with free snacks and yummy croissants for breakfast and a great downstairs bar. Only problem was for two nights of our four night stay - there was loud music coming from the floor above us - which was labelled "private". When I mentioned it at the front desk after the first night of loud music - which other guests we didn't know said had kept them up until 2am, the staff member told me the owners lived up there. And then again on another night the music was blaring even louder. I'm kind of shocked if it's the owners - like wouldn't you want your guests to have a good experience at your own hotel. The music literally went for hours and was pretty hardcore.

This hotel goes the extra kilometre! The rooms are well laid out with all the amenities. Laundry facilities on each floor, snacks and drinks in the room, croissants and coffee in the foyer as well as coffee and tea in the room as well as the floor landing. Sparkling water on each floor.... All complimentary! You name it, they provide it. On an above and beyond note they couriered my forgotten toiletry kit to another hotel on the South Island gratis. This hotel should be tops on your list if you are staying in Wellington.

This is a small boutique hotel adjacent to Cuba st in Te Aro. This area is a hive of restaurants and bars and so very convenient. It is also close walking distance to the Wellington CBD and Oriental Bay. There are also e-scooters for hire around the town so easy to use them for commutes if you don't want to walk. I found this Te Aro area to be a better location to stay than Oriental Bay. The Bay, whilst lovely on a beautiful sunny day, only has very few cafes and so surprisingly doesn't have the food and bar options one would expect of a capital city bay. Wellington is also renowned to be the windiest city in the world and so living on the bay can be less pleasant than it might sound. |The hotel itself is small and intimate with a laundry facilities which was a really nice surprise. Reception is not 24 hours but I didn't require it. There is no restaurant on site so breakfast was coffee and croissants only. However this wasn't a problem as there are so many breakfast cafes nearby. |The Puffin bar in the lobby is supposed to be very popular but was closed for the public NY holiday when I was there. Would definitely be happy to stay here again
