DO NOT RECOMMEND STAY HERE! Our booking was mucked up and we ended up going from a 2 bedroom apartment to a studio with an extra fold out bed. Owner was not particularly helpful. The fold out was broken with springs and supports hanging off it. The sheets on the main bed were dirty - had to wash them as well as the towels which were also used and dirty. Only positive is that it's close to the train station.

This is the quietest place I have ever stayed in yet it is still within 10 minutes of the central city! Located in a spot close enough to town for shopping, dining, theatre etc. but not to be disturbed by weekend bars and clubs. The only disturbance over the weekend might be a wedding across the road at St Paul's. It is also very handy to a New World, several convenience shops, the Thorndon Chippery and a wonderful Italian restaurant. The apartment was very small but as it was just for me that wasn't an issue and it was easy to warm up! Plenty of storage space and all the usual amenities - washing machine, drier, dishwasher etc. The building is a little tired but if you're only staying short term, it serves its purpose.
Have stayed here before with no issues. This time we booked accommodation through a third party agent over 7 months prior to our stay. Upon arrival we had trouble opening the lockbox. After several unanswered phone calls, and an email, to management we finally got through, and, after advising we couldnt locate the room key, we were told we didn't have a booking. We asked him to look up our booking number (incase the name given by the agent was incorrect) but he wasn't remotely interested in it and just kept saying "I don't have anything with your name". Whilst we were trying to get hold of the third party agent, to see what had happened, we overheard another couple have a very similar, but much more heated, conversation to ours with management. Our third party agent confirmed we did have a booking at the hotel, but also couldn't get hold of management, so ended up putting us in a much nicer hotel. As much as this place is a location that suits our needs, we won't ever be booking here again.
I can only say that had I read other reviews on here I would not have booked this place and for the price we paid (near $200 pn) it was by far the worst we had during our six weeks in NZ.||Room was not as advertised, carpet was old, worn and stained and had not been vacuumed. Only one sofa and mini table for eating on - room would not fit anything bigger. On arrival we noticed sink was filthy and benches had not been cleaned. Stovetop and oven were also both dirty. Had to do clean it myself (when I complained after we left, was told everything was clean, yeah, well I cleaned the bench tops and stovetop). Bed was OK but sheets were unironed and whilst they might have been clean certainly had not been commercially laundered, more likely just washed and dried in the provided washing machine/dryer. We also found wet sheets in the washing machine (and no, I don't believe the manager's story that the previous guest left them there - more likely the owner who uses the place during the week). Shower leaked water all over the floor, no bath mat provided, hand towel and face cloths were thin and stained (fit for rags). Paintwork was dreadful, could see where bits had been patched and colour painted over with white. Whole place needs renovating (manager said it was 20 years old, yeah, well it should be being rented out at the price).||As an added insult I asked the owner/manager via intercom, if we could leave our bags and collect later. He said yes, cleaner would collect and take them to the office (which was not open even thought this when it was advertised as being open). Double checked he would be there on our return as we could not ring him. On return manager was not there (again when office was supposed to be open), so, fortunately we kept the key and found our bags still in the room. Manager denied this conversation and reckons he said we just leave the bags in the room and take our key with us. What he said was nothing like what he says he said.||As I could not discuss any of these issues with the manager before I left, I contacted him afterwards asking for a partial refund ,but he refused, simply offering a free night in the future (an empty promise as he knew we were from overseas and probably won't be back, and it would be easy forget or not honour the offer anyway.)
FANTASTIC location Really enjoyed our stay here, the owner was super helpful and friendly. The hallways to our apartment seemed a bit gloomy to be honest but once we got inside we were pleasantly surprised at how well equipped, sizeable and comfortable the apartment was with awesome views to boot. Literally a 2 min walk from the bus station ready to easily and cheaply go anywhere in Wellington. Definitely recommend
Where do you start? Someone else's sock in the bed, hairs (not mine) on the bathroom floor, cups so stained you cant drink out of them, heater fell off the wall, everything stained from sofa, curtains, carpets. And the smell. Aaron after I moved out he had somewhere more to my liking. Its not about liking, its about basic cleanliness and this place was filthy.
Terrible.. filthy unit. Not cleaned properly if cleaned at all. Dirty cutlery in drawers.. beach tops greasy in kitchen.. shower unit had black mould in corners and dirty shower tray...kitchen sink had dirty water in it..cups and glasses not clean.. disgusting.. bathroom vanity..paint chipped and old grimy surfaces |Manager aggressive and wouldn't give me any refunds for 3 nights.. I had planned to stay.. I couldn't stay in the unit.. it was musty and mouldy smelling.. would never recommend this dump to anyone.. the management were hostile and dismissive.. the place is run down and misrepresented in ads.
The apartment was correct but some things were a bit old such as the sofa and not very tidy. The cleaning service is not an asset as I have the feeling they do not clean the room every day, they just put towels and empty the bin and the smell of the corridor at eating times is quite hard. There are works going on just in front of the window and the service was a bit poor because the reception has tight schedules. The hotel is good located, close to government institutions but the city center is not next door. A part from that, they have a gym key that has to be shared among the guests. Finally, the Wi-Fi was not working extremely well, it was disconnecting quite often and you only get it for one week. Fortunately, the owner is very kind and helpful.
