Mercure Wellington Central City Hotel & Apartments

Well if you are looking for something that costs a little more because you "think" it's nice do not book here. Breaking it down: Guest service - friendly, very helpful - 5 stars Room - no good, I got a deal through booking.com but usually this room is roughly 400 a night (that was my original booking.com price. Hotel needs a renovation asap. Cracks literally on a majority of walls and ceilings through the apartment. Curtains in the second bedroom do not cover the entire window. No power plugs at your bed head so you cannot charge your phone. Mould on the window frame Mould everywhere in the bathroom Shower fan full of who knows what Bathroom heater in place but does not work and full of who knows what. Shower - you need to be short to enjoy it as the head is fixed and low. (An updated head and hose wouldn't cost much) especially when the maintenance looks below average so their maintenance staff could do it quickly. I am unsure if they are laundered towels as the one I grabbed had a hole in it so the laundry people don't care, and the housekeepers also don't care as they didn't pick it up whilst folding it. Also the hot chocolate left by house keeping was sticky on the packet Plus there is no air con in the unit. Yes there's a weird heater on the wall that can be set to cool but it doesn't work like air con Tv needs serious upgrade as the selection is no good. Couch needs an update - I've had surgery on my back and that was the hardest couch I've ever sat on. A boulder would be more comfortable. The bed is so uncomfortable. Honestly I will not be back.

The room was clean and nice however the pillows were hard. We were on the 16th floor and the noise outside continued until late at night. The area around the hotels has lots of small shops and cafes. There's a quiet pub in the alley behind the hotel. Order all a great value for the price and if you're a night owl a great place to stay!!!

Some reviews are very low, but to me they are mostly moaners who want the Hilton experience for a budget or backpackers price. We like the Mercure apartment and we book this whenever we are in Wellington . It's the best location you can dream of. The best eating places are just around the corner, so is the Te Papa museum and Courtney Place.|The staff at the Mercure are wonderful, better than many other hotels. The apartment is comfortable, clean and serviced daily. The breakfast nook is very small though. You fill the water kettle in the bathroom for a cuppa. There is no toaster, but there is a good and powerful microwave oven. We have no complaints, but of course don't use a magnifying glass if you really want to find any dust, of course you will find some. Just get over it and enjoy all the good things this place and the environment has to offer. Moaners should just stay away from New Zealand anyway.

Stayed 3 nights. 1.. super hard to find as the signage is non existent. I heard this is a common problem. 2. The key card did not work. 3 days in a row. Got stuck in the lift. Lift wouldn't work. Room door wouldn't open. Very frustrating. Apparently this is a common problem. 3. Can't get the tv to go. No reception, couldn't get Netflix to work. And when I finally did kept loosing connection so it was lagging all the time. Gave up in the end. 4. Really noisy people in the room next door and very thin walls. Kept me awake to 3.30am 2 nights in a row. 5. No air conditioning so quite stuffy at night time. 6. Needed accommodation for an extra night and requested this. Was quoted a price $100 more per night than what we already paid. And $100 more than the website advertised. So I have booked us into another motel, that also has gym, pool, spa and sauna, restaurant and bar, etc, for yep, $100 cheaper per night. Great location just needs some money spent as it is looking tired.

Nice apartment for four of us. Fairly equipped. Most importantly it's clean and comfortable. Housekeeping team did a great job. Their effort and hard work should be commended. Convenience store across the street with a great Chinese restaurant at the back. Walkable to the Queen's wharf and Crab Shack is a must. Lambton quay street is fairly nearby. Shopping and the cable car are recommended .

Great stay in city centre. Everything within walking distance. Cuba street has many eateries and bars plenty of options for all tastes.Very nice and comfortable studio apartment in a hotel.Lovely concept.Very enjoyable stay and great staff.

Unfortunately I hadn't read the reviews when booking confirmed through a travel agent. Firstly there is no car park to speak of so the nearest car park will cost around 35$ for 24 hrs. It is particularly tight and not easy to manoeuvre your car around, the lift and stairs not pleasant. |The reception staff were all very helpful and friendly. The apartment is a good size, very dated but very clean and comfortable, towels fluffy and plenty toiletries and loo roll. Bed was comfortable but the windows are not sound proofed and although the hotel is in a convenient location for tourist attractions it also has loads of bars restaurants and nightlife nearby. We were kept awake for both nights by drunken revellers going home. Not a restful stay unfortunately and not a recommendation for anyone!

Excellent location, in the city centre. Walk to most sights,or you can catch a bus. Bus stop about two minutes walk from the hotel. Friendly staff, comfortable, good size rooms. No complaints.
