Hotel Waterloo & Backpackers

After reading other reviews I did not have very high expectations of this place, well I was happily surprised! Got a twin room with ensuite. It had a TV, jug, coffee/tea/ milk,microwave. Beds were clean and comfy. Shower had great pressure. Place was clean. Obviously a bit dated, but great for the price! Would definitely stay again

Very handy to my train station . I wouldn't let my worst enemy stay here. I understand it's a budget backpackers stay, but there still has to be a standard. Maybe private rooms are better than dorms. The bathrooms had mold all over the ceiling, no soap at the sink to wash hands after going to the bathroom, the lockers are barely big enough to even hold a tote bag. I was so disgusted by the conditions, I didn't even use my duvet cover because I doubt that's been washed in some time, I slept in my travel clothes because why put on clean clothes here and I had to run around to find a shower because it just spitted boiling hot water & they just said well that just happens.

Stayed in a serviced room with private facilities. I have stayed here before and knew what to expect. The building is old and all rather tired. The private rooms are at least modernized but the rooms and bathrooms are small and while the linen was clean the shower unit had mould stains around the edges (which is so easy to remove with bleach spray). My view was of a wall but on the plus side I got less traffic noise. Heating seemed to be on in corridors but not in room. Appreciated the microwave and cup / plates but no fridge (hardly room anyway). Room security all good with card access, including floor levels. Overall I stay here because it's not too expensive and is close to transport connections. It's very much budget hotel / backpackers accommodation and you simply get what you pay for. The domestic staff were very pleasant but the desk staff member at check in seemed disinterested although they did let me check in early.

We stayed in a four bed dorm room. The room itself it was ok, nothing special but ok for the price. We also had our private bathroom which was a really nice addition. Kitchen is big and well equipped. Lounge area is huge but it has a weird smell. Not sure why haha If you're looking for a nice hostel vibe don't go there. It's a weird not really comfortable vibe there.. If you're looking just for a cheap place to stay overnight with an ok location, go for it.

The building is charmingly old from the outside, frighteningly so from the inside. We poked around the common areas (kitchen, entertainment and dining areas) and decided they were probably haunted. However, the room was cozy and modern, with a comfortable bed. We will likely stay here again!

Hotel is pretty old, needs renovation. I was living in separate room with own bathroom. But still everything old , smell old, mattress is very soft( Strange carpets everywhere, even on evevator walls))) But location is great, just few minutes from Railway station and Intercity buses stop. Center also just in five minutes walking. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I wish the hotel to be renovated.

The dorms rooms are very varied in their form and equipping. Beds are comftable and spacious,but a little wobbly. In room they I stayed wasn't the water pressure working right, so you would get splashed from the sink sometimes. However, kitchen is very spacious and well equipped. Fridgets are tidy. The common room is cozy with lots of seatings and the sofas really comfortable. Staff is really friendly and the housekeeping doing a good job keep everything nice and tidy. For the compared low price really good. Would come back.
