The staff were absolutely incredible. They were kind, thoughtful and went above and beyond for me. I couldn't rate them high enough, particularly the owner. |The rooms leave much to be desired unfortunately - one night I found 3 cockroaches in my room. |I wouldn't recommend Champers if you're looking for pristine accommodation, but it's probably what you'd expect for 3

Booked the property for 2 nights. Shower was mouldy. Wall mounted soap dispensers did not work. Even though they advertise daily housekeeping we arrived to a room the following night in exactly the same way we left it that morning. Bed wasn't even made. I would really not recommend this especially for the price. Rather pay a bit more and go somewhere else. In future I'll also rather first read the reviews. Lesson learned.

Great service, very accommodating to my last minute urgent change upon arrival. Clean rooms, warm & comfortable. Will stay again. Thank you very much Sam for being accommodating.

We stayed here 4 years ago. When returning to Lower Hutt we decided to return - big mistake This was the worst motel experience I've ever had. The room we were in was filthy throughout. We were given a new room and at first thought it was much better, however quickly realised it wasn't. Oven was so dirty it was unusable and had a used tray of fat left in it. The carpet was filthy. It was obvious the place was used as emergency housing with no real cleaning or maintenance done following The photos attached give some idea of what we were exposed too At $175 a night it was a total rip off - I wouldn't be paid to stay there again On the positive side the shower pressure was very good, the bed linen was clean - unfortunately no spare pillows or blankets as per normal.

We were put into a room with a mezzanine floor. We did check it out and I should've walked away..but my husband is sick and I wasn't well and we had 2 grandchildren with us. Everything else was so expensive and we came to visit our terminally ill friend.|The place was filthy. Our room upstairs was ok. The mattress wasn't .|The bathroom had, well I don't know if they were filthy or if someone had thrown black paint around.|The room was cold with no heater. I had to ring to get one bought over . No extra blankets. Every corner in the kitchen was dirty. The plates under the elements were rusted through and dirty. So when I turned them on to cook and to heat the place up, the place filled with smoke. obviously the smoke alarm didn't work because it should've given off..|There were no plugs for the kitchen or bath. The cutlery and plates etc were mismatched and disgusting. We couldn't find a drinking glass. They were way at the back under the kitchen bench so were hard to get at. Everything felt dirty.| So disgusting for a motel industry in NZ.|It's a luxury for us and a lot of other people to stay in motels. But this was so disappointing. Nothing luxurious about it. We saw the room next door. It was huge and looked real nice. Until I saw a big stain on the mattress. |You need to get good cleaners in and decorators and make the room nice with a luxurious feel. Or just fresh and clean.

It was gross and mouldy. The bathroom had no vent. It took 3 days to get fresh towels when we asked for it everyday multiple times. Reception was always empty and you can only ring the landline which no one answers. The floors felt dirty. The bathroom was so unclean. The top of the toilet was yellow and there were mould all along the edges of the bathroom. The sink was also broken. Overall a nasty experience. It's cheap, but still not worth the price.

Not an ideal place to stay. Dated rooms, no extra pillows (don't bother asking for them because we were told they don't have any), booked for two people and only had one towel ~ when we requested a second towel it was like we had asked for something out of the ordinary. Bathroom was filthy, I wore my flip-flops in the shower ~ although lovely soaps, body wash and shampoo is provided. We were hoping to use the laundry facilities, however upon inspection, decided against it. Advertised as having blockout blinds ~ the photo below was taken at midnight and clearly demonstrates that the blinds are not blockout. For the price ~ we have stayed in amazing motels throughout the north island of NZ ~ this is unfortunately not one of them. Other reviews and their website mention the 'famous water pressure' in the showers and bathrooms ... I guess it has that going for it.

Value for money; If you're not fussy and looking for a budget stay then this place is for you. We accidentally booked this accommodation for only 2 adults and when I called the admin they allowed our 2 small kids without extra charge. The location is 5 star The water pressure for shower is 5 star The heater does the job 5 star The cleanliness though needs a bit of improvement, but the inn's an old building so it was understandable. The beds are comfortable. If the reception is lock just be understanding that the staff came from of different culture and background (march 2019 event) anyone would lock the door. And if you ring the bell and take them a while just be patient someone will attend to you. (They probably just gone to loo or something) They bring you new towels day by day which was great. The kitchenette was my favourite. Saves you from eating outside for breakfast, had our first dinner here as well (stayed 3nights) The location was really nice near the malls, activities, zoo, cable car, etc (we brought our own car and the parking is just outside the area which was very convenient) Over all it did the purpose and we are satisfied.
