Dreadful. Dirty, noisy, no hot water, noisy plumbing all night, gaps around front door letting in cold, and neighbour's smoke, no kitchen sink. Heater too noisy to use and caked in dust. Fittings broken, pictures crooked. Really shabby. In a great location but has nothing else going for it. No staff on site.
Really friendly receptionist and cleaner. Really tidy. Furnishings are dated but that's not a big deal. Shower is really clean and water is hot. Clean linen. Lots of space in the sleeping area, decent sized bathroom. Good mirrors. Internet connection is great. Down side I keep hitting my head on a light right above the bed. Also we booked a double room and it is two single beds pushed together. Great value for money, would totally book here again.
This was booked by the company and we had 6 rooms in total. The motel was located in an light industrial area in Lower Hutt with no restaurants or shops within walking distance. The area was noisy and early traffic could be heard quite easily. It was very tired, basic but clean. Did not really feel comfortable lying on the old bed spread. Soap and shampoo not provided in bathroom. Only one towel provided (it was a single room) and had to ask for an additional one. The lady on reception (possibly the owner/manager) was friendly. TV channels were lacking with only the three basic 'free' ones and 6 'sky' channels' including CNN and one sports channel. Sound proofing between floors not good, could hear the person walking above me constantly. WiFi was provided as part of the room and appreciated. Microwave but no other cooking facility in the room. ||||You would only really stay here for the price and I would not book it myself.
My boyfriend and I stayed here two different times for just one night. We were looking for somewhere inexpensive and close to Lower Hutt and Wellington. Abbeycourt fitted and we booked online. On our first stay we were greeted by a young girl who checked us in and was friendly. We had room number 1 which was small but all we needed for one night. The room was cleaned, but there was a hair on the back of the bathroom door, which was a bit grosse. During the evening we could hear people going upstairs to the top room and we could hear them walking backwards and forwards for a while. Other than that, the place was fine.||||Our second stay a week or so later, we were greeted by the "mother" who told us our eftpos card was not the right type of card to pay the room with. But yet, the daughter had used it last time. After a discussion she agreed and we were given room 0. This soom was nicer and the bathroom was much more newer. We also had cooking facilities which the other room hadn't. There was no hair this time, but one peice of rubbish was still in the bin. During the evening we were glad not to have anyone above us like last time, but as room 0 was next to the office, we could hear people talking in there. As night came, we went to bed, but our door suddenly clicked open! Conviced we had locked it, we shut it again and luckily, didn't happen again. ||||I would stay again at the Abbeycourt motel, but only for a night or 2.
Been staying here for at least 2 nights every 3 weeks for over 12 months.||Always clean and good service from friendly staff. If you want 'flash' then you will pay a lot more. Always soap and shampoo in the bathroom.||A full range of TV channels available and there is a Restaurant directly across the road if required.||Never had a problem with noise from other units and only find traffic noise is a problem after about 8.30 am.||Would keep on coming here in 2015 but as a 65yr old I always ask and get a downstairs unit as I can't be bothered carrying everything upstairs.
Looking for a stay over of one night or more - you will enjoy Abbeycourt. Its warm, friendly, clean and quite. Just what you need after driving many Ks. It is reasonably prices also. To ensure you have a room when you want it - I would suggest you book before hand.
We spent 3 nights at this hotel. The decor was tired and dated. The room was dark and dismal even with all of the 5 lights on.||The kitchenette was small and ill-equipped. Would I go back....... no I don't think I would.||Look at the fire rules. Assemble under the veranda, right where the fire is likely to be.
