Riak Maw Inn

This hotel mainly caters for visiting business people. The rooms are basic but extremely functional and comfortable. The plumbing works and the showers are hot. The hotel is very clean and very well run. The menu is a tad limited to standard Indian fare, but then the area lacks an eating out culture. However if you express an interest in Mizo food, wow its there on the menu and it will be proudly and expertly prepared for you. Mizo food is different.||||If you are interested in Mizo culture the hotel owner and manager will provide you with a wealth of information and advice as well as an insight into Mizo life and culture. The advice and information is excellent and trustworthy. The staff are friendly and helpful. The satellite TV provides a good range of channels and some of the rooms have spectacular views. There is also good and reliable wifi in the public areas.||||This place has a good location on the main street and is close to where the Sumos from Silchar stop. It is also close to all facilities including the Millennium shopping mall. The price at under $20 per night for a single room is exceptional value.||||The knowledge and helpfulness of the owner and staff is the icing on the cake. The owner speaks excellent English and is used to foreign visitors and our ways.

Its a good budget hotel. This hotel got only 12 rooms for visitors. But all of them are neat & clean & hygenic. The staffs are friendly. The quality of foods available are satisfactory in reasonable range. Wifi system is available. The only shortcoming I faced is low signal range of mobile phones from inside the room. You have to come out to the corridor or lounge for calling. The best part is its nearest to the taxi stand in central zarkawt and just a 2 min walk to the Millenium Centre which is the most popular mall in Aizawl. The owner is a middle aged sweet lady and she is very cooperative.

Riak Maw Inn has an attractive, professional looking website. The place has been advertised on travel boards as "newly renovated hotel in central Zarkawt it has clean rooms and free wifi, the owner has a large collection of Mizo hand-looms that she uses to decorate so it has more of a local feel to it. She also is knowledgeable about Mizoram and has a lot of contacts around the state." ||The last "feature" made me chose this place, since information is a valuable asset in this off-the-main-path-destination. The owner however was never seen during my stay and the available staff had such limited language skills (to put it PC: their skills and mine did not match ...), that it was hardly possible to evaluate the owners eventual turning up, let alone to receive any further information. ||It maybe wrong to critisize a wrongly expected addon for a hotel, but Riak Maw Inn seems to be just an average place catering for Indian small business. As such it showed centrally located very clean rooms (with a muldy smelling cupboard though in my room) and a good value for money. Wifi was NOT available.

I have to come to Aizawl almost every month for a week to 14 days. Since the regular hotel I stay in had all rooms booked, i was compelled to stay here as a makeshift arrangement. The room is the smallest possible room you can imagine and I thought they wouldn't charge more than 500-600 for such a room, considering my regular hotel has a tariff of rs850 for a sprawling room. ||My mistake is I should have negotiated before coming. My trust was misplaced

Overpriced rooms. You can get much better rooms at much cheaper prices at say, RH Inn or David's Clover. Service is also nothing to write about. Wifi connectivity doesn't reach the rooms.

Stayed for six days. Was charged 1200 per day. It's Bad place with bad service. They are hardly interested in their customers. Immediately next to our window was another building so just couldn't open it. No sunlight or proper ventilation in the room

There are more better hotels at the same price range.

The place is fine for anyone who has something to do at the heart of the city
