Villa Nicolaus Bed & Breakfast

The Villa Nicolaus was wonderful. I flight was delayed twice so we got in very late and they were so accommodating to us. Leonardo was "molto gentile". He made us feel right at home after a 29 hour trip to get to Bari. It was very relaxing and rejuvenated us for our Italian adventure. Thanks

Beautiful bed and breakfast close to the airport and easily accessible by car from the city center with free parking; gracious hosts, extremely clean bedroom and breakfast area, delicious local treats for breakfast in lovely surroundings. Highly recommend!

We stayed for one night having arrived on a night flight from Dublin. We were warmly welcomed by Leo, who insisted on helping with our luggage. The room was very pleasant and had everything we needed, as well as being spotlessly clean. The guest rooms are located on a basement level accessed by an outside staircase and there is a little enclosed terrace outside the rooms. Leo and his wife are charming and they really care that you have a good stay. They recommended an excellent restaurant on the seafront, a simple, 5 minute drive from the property, which was perfect for a late dinner. The house is beautiful and there is a very pleasant breakfast room/lounge with a kitchenette, where a very good breakfast is served. Nothing is too much trouble. I don't think they speak English (and why should they!); luckily we speak decent Italian so it was not problem but even if we didn't we would have got by. It is in a perfect location when you arrive at the airport, too late to head off on your travels in Puglia or if you have an early morning flight and need to stay close to the airport the night before.

The whole family lives in this beautiful, very large home. They were SO friendly and gracious. You could tell they loved people and their business. There home and the garden is absolutely gorgeous, comfortable, and clean. Decent location, with pizzeria very close. Street parking (free). Definitely recommend to all groups! We stayed with our two young children.

Perfectly located bed and breakfast only 5 minutes from the airport. The hospitality was great. We arrived in the middle of the night but it was no problem for Leo to pick us up from the airport. And the next day we were brought back to the airport to pick up our rental car.||Also his wife had the following morning a delicious breakfast prepared. ||A great address to stay and we will be back!

We flew into Bari late evening and needed accommodation for one night. The taxi driver wanted to drop us in the middle of nowhere as he couldn't find the b&b. Leonardo from the b&b came out to find us and took us back to his place.||The room was very clean and had everything we needed. The breakfast was ample set in a lovely breakfast room. We were served lovely homemade cakes that were warm and delicious.||Leonardo and his wife are excellent hosts. He took us in his own vehicle to a nearby restaurant on the seafront so we could have tea and the following morning when we asked to get a taxi to the airport to collect our hire car Leonardo refused saying he would take us.||Definitely worth a stay and so near the airport. Leonardo and his wife are lovely people who will look after you.

Well, at first it was really hard to find. The GPS device of the rental car couldn't find other street number, except number 1. And the villa is at no. 2, but believe me, they are not even close one of the other. Trying to find it I drove on a small street near a small bridge and I found myself just in front of the Villa. Not a sign in the street before I saw the building.||The location is about 10 minutes by car from the old centre of Bari. By foot, you can reach the sea in minutes.||The house is very nice, all in white, with 2 levels. One is over the ground and one is almost under. We had one of the lower rooms. Sounds bad, but it wasn't at all. The house is very original. Actually, it is built for the family use and it is furnished accordingly. We had a suite where at least 5 persons would fit, but Booking.com didn't allowed us to choose more than 2 persons. But being built this way, there are some weak points: one of them is that there was another room next to ours, but we had a glass door between us. Normally, all the noises traveled both sides. I think that we bothered our neighbours on the evening and surely they disturbed us on the morning. But not too much :). ||Inside, we had all we needed, starting with towels and linen, big flat TV, air conditioning, hair dryer, but no refrigerator. I am sure that the owners would let the guests use their own fridge - there is a big one in the breakfast area. And even if we had a big table in the room, we had no cutlery at all. Not even a bottle opener.||There is a nice courtyard on the back, but I am not sure if it is allowed for the guests. Anyway, we had a little terrace with a table and 4 chairs.||Breakfast was not enough for me, because I am used to eat salami, prosciutto and cheese on the morning, not sweets. But we got a very nice cake, filed with mixed puddings that made me forget about ham and other meats.||The owners are fantastic people. Very warm and very eager to help. It is clear that they are at the beginning doing this job, but I gladly recommend the location. The lady speaks only Italian, but their daughter speaks a very good English. When something isn't as you expect, talk with them!

We stayed one night, arriving in the evening. Having had email contact with Leonardo the day before, he offered to meet us at the airport. We were greeted warmly & taken to the B&B. The room we had was enormous, & spotlessly clean. As it was late, we asked about local pizzerias for a quick supper. Leonardo was more than happy to phone & order us a pizza delivered speedily to the room. He provided wine glasses for the wine we had brought. Breakfast was lovely & Leonardo's wife brought us warm local pastries. We were left to ourselves & made extra coffee as needed. We asked if they could order us a taxi to our car hire office, but Leonardo offered to drop us there. We paid him over the rate charged as we felt he went above & beyond with help for us. Would thoroughly recommend.
