The Habitat Shillong

Located right in the city. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was good on all days. Beautiful garden. Only drawback was the smaller room size. Especially if you opt for triple sharing, it can get a bit cramped. But overall had a satisfying stay.

Hotel located in the middle of Shillong surrounded by traffic I'm all sides. Breakfast was good. Antique type rooms and atmosphere. Not everyone may relish.

Broken bathroom.The shower didn't work properly.Bathroom is all stained.Rundown rooms.Very small and crammed rooms.Pictures in the website are deceptive.Food is overpriced. The front office staff would potray themselves being so busy that they can hardly answer any query of the guest . Parking is a hassle.The stay is located in a narrow lane .The hotel / guest house needs renovation and the staff need proper training. Overall a horrible place to stay.

"Exceptional experience" in short. A quiet classical appeal of a place once home, retained the feeling and added elements of south east Asia confluence. A place to sit with a book, coffee facing a large glass window overseeing the garden showered by sunlight. Days would pass by without noticing.

We stayed at the Habitat for 4 days at the beginning on November 24. Like the description says it's a small but beautiful boutique hotel with wooden interiors and cozy common spaces to sit in. The outdoor area has pretty flowering plants and the place is easy to access by vehicle or on foot through the winding alley from one side and a broader road at the other. We had a comfortable stay and the limited menu and lack of room service was not an issue as we knew about it while booking and a lot of popular eateries like Cafe Shillong and Deja Vu being easily accessible nearby we had several options for food. Their breakfast buffet was simple but fresh and tasty. One of the most important things required for a good stay are clean and well functioning washrooms and this place fell short in this regard. At initial checking itself we saw that water was leaking onto the bathroom floor from the base of the commode. Upon telling the manager we received the reply that this was the first they were hearing about the problem which was not likely as it had evidently been happening before. For a problem that should have been corrected before the room was given to customers they tried fixing it temporarily but unsuccessfully and the result was a wet and very cold floor through our stay as the weather was cold too. Being peak season they did not have other rooms for us to be shifted to. As an older property I think the place needs some repair and upkeep.

2 night stay, cosy, rooms just enough for 2 persons, great dining experience, garden worth admiring, parking for 4 vehicles. Cooperative staff, service with a smile.

There is one guy called shubham , he just cancelled my booking without even informing me, and when I reached the hotel morning 6am with family he talked rudely and just said me the booking is cancelled please talk to customer care. Never ever i repeat never ever book this hotel. Now the owner is replying they don't work with cleartrip then the how the hotel is listed and I called 2 days before to confirm and they confirmed the booking on the day of checkin it is cancelled,

Not at all recommended they cancel the booking on the day when you reach. I reached with my wife, they didn't even have 1% commen sense to inform us earlier that my booking is cancelled( for so called rate issue). The day when I reached they are like your booking is cancelled , the front desk person shubham is so rude . So whenever you book, you should call and ask sir is the rate is ok? If ok then check in...
