MeLaAi Bed & Breakfast Cottage

We had booked this homestay from airbnb. Since we were a group of 7, we got the entire house to ourselves. There are 3 rooms, 2 of them have attached bathrooms. Rooms were clean and cosy. Our caretaker was very friendly and provided us tea once we checked in. We had also pre ordered the dinner which was also delicious. Highly recommend the Local Khasi style chicken curry. Location is quiet and isolated from the noise and crowd of Police Bazaar area. There is common parking area available near the homestay. Highly recommend this homestay, for a chill and hospitable stay.

Neat and clean property. Food is great. do try Local Chicken curry. Quantity of the food is huge. Owner and the Caretaker is so welcoming and big at heart. Good for 8-9 people 3 bed rooms and 1 common space.

It was an awesome experience. Neat and clean. The location is nearby the Shilong police market by car. It's quiet and the architecture was very nice. Local wine is superb, you can purchase from them that's lovely!

A beautiful and swoon-worthy homestay, with tastefully decorated interiors and impressive hospitality practices. Best for both families and group of friends. The host made sure we were safe throughout. The food was excellent! The rooms and toilets are extremely clean and well kept. No complaints at all! The caretaker- Shai catered to all our needs with a smile on his face throughout. The stay at Melaai was definitely a highlight of the Meghalaya trip.

MeLaAi is the perfect blend of home like Hospitality and the luxury of a hotel. The cottage is absolutely beautiful, both from outside as well as inside. It's a very pretty cottage on the hills which looks like it's out of a storybook but is very much real and reasonable even. The interiors are tastefully done, with a lot of bamboo and wood work to admire. The cottage is spacious , cosy and really beautiful. The bathrooms are also great!! But the highlight is the hospitality, the hostess made us feel at home and was generally very warm and comforting as well. She looked after us not only in her Homestay, but outside as well. It is especially perfectly suited for groups of friends, like we were, but anyone would feel at home there. I would really emphatically recommend MeLaAi to anyone who will listen, and I cannot imagine living anywhere else if I were to visit Shillong again!

5 of us stayed at this lovely place for workation for 4 nights. The property and the wooden architecture is awesome. The locality is also clean and calm. Shai, the caretaker has this always on smile that spreads positivity, he took good care of us. The owner was also kind to take some time of her busy schedule, taking us for a homemade wine tasting! We loved this place. Will surely stay here again when in Shillong. Thank you Me La Ai !!

"shy" or "shay" who took care of us there was an absolute gem of a person. He was super polite, helpful and catered to all our needs. The rooms were really well maintained with clean linens and a much required room heater in all 3 rooms. The food was also very delicious! The property is really beautiful and it's worth the stay.
