Ibankordor Jungle Resort

It is situated deep inside the forest in a very offbeat location. The rooms are average, and electricity is unavailable from 10 PM to 7:30 AM. However, the food here is good. If you walk a little further, you'll find a spot with a stunning view of Bangladesh.

This stay was a hit and a miss for me While the location and it's seclusion makes it likeable, the broken approach Road (especially the last stretch) makes it hard to drive to the resort. We stayed there for one day. The rooms were spacious and clean. The resort was decently maintained. The food was decent. However, rooms do not have any intercom. In addition, no mobile network means you have to walk up to the reception every time there is a request/query I was willing to ignore the above issues given the quiet of the place - however, an unruly crowd arrived late in the evening and began creating ruckus. This kept happening for hours and there was no one at reception to help control the crowd. We tried reaching out on their given numbers (thru whatsapp using the weak wifi) and knocked at reception but there was no one. I eventually had to shout at them myself. This incident spoiled the experience for me. This takes the purpose of the resort and turns it on its head. Very disappointing. Also, there is wifi which hardly works.

We stayed here for 2 nights and believe me this was really a wonderful experience. Huge green area for walking and sitting spaces in open with bonfire. We met 2 cute dogs and 7 cats. Just walking around this place is so peaceful. Owners is a lovely person and very helpful. It was the only place where I got a nice cup of tea during my whole travel. Staff was very cooperative. If any wants to stay at Cherrapunji and wants a peaceful and stress free experience, it's a no brainer. It's also near to double decker trek.

Positive - 1. Staffs are very polite and helpful. 2. Rooms are large and very basic. Negative points - 1. Very far away from Sohra(Cherapunjie) city centre and roads are bad. It will take minimum 1 hour from the city. Not safe to drive in dark so should come back to hotel by 6 PM. 2. No mobile connectivity. Don't know what to do after 6 PM when it is dark. 3. Food prices are on higher side compared to quality. 4. Too many cats roaming in the kitchen so not sure about hygiene.

The location is the selling point of this resort with the sunrise view at a walkable distance. Service was great. We were surprised at how good the food was, given this was such a remote place. Would recommend reaching there before dusk as there are no streetlights and the roads are, well, jungle like. Cellphone network reception was not good.

If you are planning to stay overnight in jungle and experience the thrill this resort is for you, we traveled here with a group of 20 including kids also and it's luxury and adventurous experience. Rooms aren't very lavish but according to jungle resources it's the best and I would suggest reach here by afternoon 4 so you can see the view, sunset and scenery. Freshly cooked food as per your reference is been provided by the staff.

Pros and cons of the place is that the view from the resort is pretty,as bangladesh border is visible from there.but its completely a no network place(if you are required to stay connected for work then its better not to visit) Food is pricey compared to its taste.so we found it better to carry local khasi food from outside or cook by ourselves,provuded you need to carry your own utensils and crockery. Rooms are very very basic with damp walls with black mold growth and condensation.we understand its due to its rainy and wet weather but room price should be a little less according to it though rooms are big no doubt.. One night stay is just more than enough

It's very remote but that is what makes it charming. The hosts are very helpful and go out of their way to make you comfortable. The rooms are basic but clean and well maintained. Don't go there expecting luxury. But the views are quite spectacular and the peace of the jungle is great.
