We had the misfortune to be staying at the Leopard Hill's resort this past week. There were some very unique experiences that we had at this place, something that we had never experienced previously... At least I have been fortunate to have stayed at places where the owners and the staff of resorts, hotels and even hostels have been kind enough and understand that their business comes from guests and tourists. However, for the very first time, I had the following experiences, which has been an eye-opener for me:||1. If the guests did not like the food, its their problem - During the stay, at every meal, we did give the feedback that the food is average to below average. The veg food was average at best and twice it happened that the pulses (Lobia beans first night and chana on the next day's lunch) were not even boiled enough to be edible. I am personally not someone who is too fussy over food while travelling and I gave the feedback and had the rotis with dal. The fellow guests who were non-vegetarians expressed that the chicken preparation was absolutely horrible and conveyed it in a polite way to the owner, who was also doubling up as the cook along with his wife (apparently their cook had been let go a week back). This continued at every meal through the stay of 3 nights and 4 days. In some of the dishes, you could literally see the chicken pieces floating on oil, once again this feedback was provided to the owner-cum-cook.|At the end of the stay, while checking out when we told the owner that the quality of the food was not up to the mark, his response was... "Agar aapko khaana acha nahi laga to mai kuch nahi kar sakta"... indicating that it is the guests' fault if they do not like the food. And he will not take any feedback or make any improvements.||2. Switching off the power to a room when the guests get 30 mins late for check-out - Could not believe that anyone would do this until they actually did it. We had returned from the safari at 10:30 post which we had breakfast, got fresh, packed and checked out... We had an elderly person along with us and by the time we were able to check out, it was a few minutes after 12:00 PM. The checkout time conveyed to us was 11:30.. So its 30 minutes late. The owner shut down the power at 12:00, forcing aunty to get ready in the dark and not just that, the staff entered the room and refused to go out for few minutes to allow the guest to get ready. None of us had ever experienced this kind of behavior. It wasn't a case where we were checking out hours late or if there were guests waiting to check-in. There were no guests and we had requested that we be allowed 30 mins extra as we had barely returned from the safari and needed time to pack and check out. ||3. The owner refused to cook veg food on the last night and asked the guest "Mujhe kya sapne me aayega ki aapko veg food chahiye" (Will I get a dream that you need veg food?) I am the vegetarian and this incident happened on the last night. After having told multiple times that they need to make at least 1 veg dish on previous lunch/dinner times, this is the kind of statement that comes from the owner. If he had not remembered, all he had to do was acknowledge and prepare something. But instead he chooses to talk in this condescending language to the guests.||The owner seems to think that he is doing a favour on the guests. The place is quite pricey when considering the services and quality of food provided. And add to that the language of the owner, I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. Unless a miracle happens and the owner realizes that the guests are paying for the services he chose to provide, I am not sure how this place will survive.

Family owned and managed, a hidden gem, only decent property near Gothangaon gate (25mnts drive), Owners are Natture lovers and have deep knowledge on surrounding area. Room ammenties good, Food is safe ,delicious, served with love, staff is polite and smart. They make you feel at home. Currently 4 cottages , expansion in progress. Overall VFM.
One of the best jungle resorts I have ever stayed in. The best thing what I liked about this property is that the owner doesn't allow ny nuisance inside the premises n that's the reason only wildlifers are allowed in this property. If u r very keen on playing loud music, boozing n partying then this isn't the property for u all to stay in. Since it was my second visit to Umred Karandla wls I can easily say this the best resort in n around Umred Karandla.
Don't be misled by the property. It is located on the fringes of the forest , and it is indeed beautiful. However, the service is pathetic and worst is the attitude of the owner who caters to his guests. There are 4 rooms, 2 staff, and no cook. When you go for morning safari, the bed tea comes with no biscuits, the safari breakfast has no tea because they have already served you bed tea. Besides, there are no options to ask for since "we can't wake up early" to cook breakfast. For the vegetarian menu they expected guests to have only dak and rice. Rooms were not cleaned for the 4 days that we stayed. They switched off power in the room because they asked us to check out at 12, and we asked for 10 minutes extra. Even though there were no guests for checking in that day. The beddings were extremely dirty because they had not not changed the sheets nor had clean pillow covers. Service was pathetic. After a safari one would have to wait for 40 minutes for the evening tea and snacks even though we would call them in advance. The owner is extremely rude and his attitude is that he is doing us a favour. Very expensive , rude behaviour and pathetic food and service.
We booked this resort on someone's recommendation. On reading the recent review I was very scared to check in. When we reached we were pleasantly surprised, that the owner , Nisarg was there to receive us. We got nice buttermilk as welcomedrink. The room was nice, airy, big with 3 fans, a/c, seating area and a lovely sit out. Surrounded by bamboo trees and and forest around,it was peaceful and zen like. The bathroom was also really big. At the moment they have 4 furnished rooms. The owner was enthusiastic to take us on the machan with continuos monkey and deer calls, to see if anything could be seen. They tried providing us good food and took feedbacks positively. On the food front they could definitely improve, but then definitely they tried their best. We were provided nice packed Parathas for the journey. This was our 1st time in Umred Karandla , and was a lovely stay. Gothangaon and karandla gate are both 20/25 minutes driving distance from here.
Mountain view resort, very raw place. Whether you're a wildlife enthusiast or just looking for a peaceful escape, this resort is a perfect destination. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves nature and adventure!
