I have such fond memories of my childhood in Sawantwadi, where I was born. I used to spend my summers and Diwali vacations there with my grandparents, who lived just a stone's throw from the Rajwada (palace). Every time I walked by, I couldn't help but wonder what lay inside, and it became a magical place in my young imagination. Now, after so many years away, I'm finally returning to Sawantwadi, and I've heard the palace has opened its doors to the public as a hotel. I felt a wave of excitement and nostalgia as I booked my stay. It's heartwarming to see how the royal family has lovingly renovated the palace and dedicated themselves to showcasing local art and culture. Our night there was truly unforgettable. The experience seamlessly blends the richness of history with modern comforts. The food was simply incredible, skillfully merging local flavors with international cuisine, making every bite a joy. What truly stood out, though, was the exceptional service from Tanuja and her team. Their warmth and commitment to making our stay memorable truly touched my heart. They went above and beyond, creating an experience I will cherish for years to come.

This place is such a culinary goldmine :) Of course visit for the luxury of the palace and the uniqueness of the town and Sindhudurg district but absolutely visit Sawantwadi Palace for the food ! Chef and Princess Shraddha is a genius with her signature creations. Our standout dishes were the Sawantwadi Po'boy, PwR Ramen, Sloppy Joe with Tamda Rassa, Gyoza and Mushroom XO Rice. There is a great degree of refinement in the flavours. The desserts are elaborate too. Stay in general is great. Special mention to Tanuja who runs a lot of the front end operations and also the rest of the staff who are warm and very efficient.

The hotel offers a specially curated royal experience for their guests which holds true to it's name. You can expect your stay here to be peaceful and comfortable. The menu although limited, offers authentic dishes from across asia. Your stay here would leave you wanting to come back for more.

Sawantwadi is a picturesque town nestled in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra, near the Goa border. Known for its rich cultural heritage, traditional arts, and serene landscapes, it's an ideal destination for travelers seeking a blend of history and nature. Sawantwadi

A Rajwada Thali at The Sawantwadi Palace by the most amazing host Shraddha Bhonsle Stepping into Sawantwadi Palace for a meal was like walking into a living chapter of history. The palace setting, the traditional hospitality and the meticulously prepared dishes came together to create a dining experience unlike any other. The flavors were a perfect reflection of the Konkan region with a blend of Maharashtra, authentic, vibrant, and soulful. From aromatic curries to indulgent sweets, each bite carried the essence of age old recipes passed down through generations. This wasn't just a meal, it was a celebration of culture, heritage and the unmatched charm of royal dining. Watch the video to catch a glimpse of this unforgettable journey! I honestly don't understand how this place stays in business. The prices here are absolutely ridiculous for the quality of food they serve. I was expecting much more for what I paid, but it was a complete letdown. The dish I ordered was bland and tasteless. It was as if no effort had gone into seasoning or preparing it properly. For the price, I was expecting fresh, flavorful ingredients, but instead, I got a tasteless, uninspired meal. My friend's dish was equally disappointing--dry and poorly cooked, with no real flavor to speak of.(Masala Bhath and Pinacolada) If you're looking for a good meal that's worth the price, this is not the place. You can find better tasting food at half the price elsewhere. Honestly, I'm baffled by how overpriced everything is for such poor quality. Save your money and go somewhere else.Actually you can travel to Goa and come back for the price they charge.
