Decent Hotel , good for family and Business stay ... Extremely well behaved staff .. worth looking at cost !!
This is for the budget traveler looking for a clean, no-nonsense experience. ||Pros: Good location, friendly and helpful staff, neat rooms||Cons: Open parking for vehicle, noisy road below||||Didn't miss not having a restaurant in-house. The staff (and Google Maps) guided me to Hotel Sayali (5 min walk through a quaint road) which is another great budget place with good-quality meals and excellent service. ||||Overall, complete value for money, wouldn't mind coming back here!
Our group of 4 (2 boys and 2 girls) stayed in this hotel this last Saturday and we found it a hassle free experience. We had booked two rooms (with A/C which cost us a mere $27 per room). Check in was easy, the room was prepared and appeared clean. The mattress was firm and after a tiring day I found myself falling asleep right away. On asking, we were provided towels and sheets (some of us wanted to use the sheets instead of the blankets). The hot water faucet takes a bit of time to heat up but its very hot when it gets going (apparently solar based water heating is compulsory in Satara). The bathroom was spacious and very clean although it did not carry the usual bathroom paraphernalia of lotions/soaps etc. found in more expensive hotels.||||Although the hotel does not have a cafeteria, tea, coffee and bottled water is available during the day till late evening. There are plenty of restaurants nearby - we recommend Shiv Sagar for their 'thali'. The hotel does not have WiFi but I was told there are cyber-cafes nearby. The city itself has poor 3G connectivity. The TV in the room is quite small (20" I think) but it carries all the channels you may want to watch to kill the time.||||The terrace of the hotel has a nice view of the city and the surrounding mountains. The receptionist was courteous and knowledgeable about local sightseeing including suggestions on when to visit for future trips. Parking may not be possible if you bring your own car but there are side-streets nearby where you could do that. All in all, it was a good experience.
Good place for a single night's stay. Has good rooms with 24/7 hot water supply. They don't provide room services. The staff is helpful. The pricing is reasonable and has to be paid in cash. CREDIT CARDS are not accepted. Rooms are available most of the time. Overall a decent place to stay.
Happened to stay at Pooja residency for a night (we were 3 families with child) and this certainly wasn't the best choice to be candidly honest. Firstly the rooms have no restaurant attached so one is left to the mercy of nearby places but at odd hours (beyond 9.30-10pm) almost all options are closed out. The rooms too are not the cleanest you'll find and some strands of hair near the dressing table or in the bathroom are fairly common. The bedsheets too arent pristine or even acceptable white. To add to the agony, when we started washing hands post our small meal we carried with ourselves, the washbasin just filled in and water didn't drain out. We pointed it out to the only lone caretaker there and he said one should wash hands after food in the basin. I said WHAT!! Wow this was a comical first but not a pleasant one. ||This place's only USP if it has to be one, is that it is in the thick of things, right near the main chowk and places or eateries are accessible. Else for families this is not recommended. For single travelers who aren't too fussy about the finer niceties and who care about just spending a night for sound sleep this is OK. Still one shouldn't spend anything north of Rs. 900 for an AC room herein.||Tip: There's is no room service and it is clearly mentioned on all prominent places in the hotel.
On Saturday we went to Thoseghar and on Sunday Kaas pathar, so for that if you want one day budget stay, good option. Room was okay. Don't expect luxury but the budget stay. Management staff was polite.
We stayed in this hotel when we visited Thoseghar, Kaas, Bamnoli....in August 2012.||My personal view is that there are limited options of good budget ( either luxury or very cheap) hotels in Satara. Pooja was good choice in that respect.||Location: midway between highway and Bogda(tunnel towards Toseghar-sajjangarh). Situated on a busy road, there are shops in front /ground floor.||Rooms: clean (hotel looks new), airy, spacious.||Reception/reservation experience: very good.Helpful||Food: not available. In fact, we have spent quite a lot time in finding a good place to eat nearby and still could not !!||Parking: open parking infront of hotel/shop on the side of the road. ||||We reached Satara late in the evening and it was raining. Did not have time to look for many hotels.
