The Retreat Hotel and Convention Centre

**Rating: ** The Retreat Hotel & Convention Centre is far from a 5-star experience. Hygiene and service were major letdowns. At the Chinese restaurant, I witnessed waiters preparing drinks by handling fruits like pineapple and watermelon with bare hands, dropping them on the bar counter, picking them up again--still with bare hands--and placing them on glasses without tongs or gloves. One even dipped his hand in a water bucket and wiped it on his uniform. I left my meal halfway--it was disturbing. The welcome drinks were left open in glasses near the reception, fully exposed. The food was no better: the fish was not fresh despite my request, the chips were soggy, and tea was sent to the room without even a cookie. During breakfast, I found a small stone in my omelet--staff brushed it off as "uncrushed black pepper" even though it hurt my tooth. We booked 3 rooms on the 4th floor, and the key cards kept failing. After shifting to another room, the door was so tight that even staff struggled to open it, but no solution was offered. The intercoms barely worked, making even internal communication a headache. The reception ended up calling our personal numbers instead. No smart TV, Water kettle not getting heated, No shaving kit no bodywash, taps are dirty water bottle not clean. We were also denied access to complimentary high tea simply because we didn't book directly--ridiculous for staying guests. I raised all of this to multiple managers, but got the usual fake smile and "we'll look into it" with zero action. Definitely not worth the price or the star rating they advertise.

My husband and I stayed at The Retreat Hotel , Malad, to celebrate our anniversary, and it truly exceeded all expectations! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcomed . The check-in process was smooth.The rooms were clean, with comfortable pillows and spotless bedsheets. We had dinner at their Oriental Bowl restaurant, food and service were excellent ! They even made us a cake for our anniversary and gave us complimentary soft beverages. They have a decent spread of breakfast. The checkout time was 10 , but they did allow us to check out a little later. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a memorable getaway in Mumbai.

I am currently staying at pool view room. Having a great time. Staff is very cordial.. South indian breakfast was superr.. They made my day with my anniversary cake.. Very Yum.. only minis point is strong fish smell around due to nearby village

Very nice property except the fish smell you get in the entire property. Just behind the property there is fish drying area rips the quality of the hotel. You cannot go on the beach due the worst smell. Plus can't wait in the hotel lobby too for long time due to the fishy smell.

The most pathetic 5 start I ever experienced in my life. The location of the hotel is far flung disconnected from the city.when I entered the Resort i was welcomed with rotten fish unbearable smell bcuz nearby villagers has setup a fish drying area and the smell of it was all over the property. The food was so unhygienic that I got sick same day. they served me Tomoto soup which didn't taste like real soup tasting like added chemicals. Above all of this, very insistent behavior for making payment of food instantly at the table of restaurant, inspite of that we were staying in the Hotel, they denied us to add it in our room bill.

A very well-maintained property with top notch service. There is direct access to the beach with spacious grassy lawns to play outdoor games. The gate to the beach closes in the evenings at 6:30pm, so be sure to return to the hotel in time. The pool is huge with several deck chairs to lounge on. We tried the breakfast and dinner buffets, both of which were excellent. Overall, it offers a great getaway vibe with lots of greenery.

We stayed here for two nights for a wedding. First impression was bit disappointing due to strong smell of fish coming from the sea as the fishermen use it for drying their boats. Reception was fine and the staff did amazing work. The best part of our stay was the staff hospitality which deserves all applause. Rooms are quite decent and view is ok. Breakfast was served free of cost with our package which was fine too, but for such cost and 5 star rating more is expected. Bit disappointed with swimming pool cleanliness and the seashore is waste of time due to lot of waste material. No way one can go for swim. The cost of food is extremely high. We tried pizza and pasta and it's not really worth. Overall it was good experience and better think of it's worth spending 9k per night.

Vast area which is very well maintained. The staff is absolutely polite and professional. The rooms are spacious and the pool view ones are definitely worth thanks to the wide windows. The outdoor area includes a well maintained & curvy pool, a Jacuzzi and lawn area. There are several restaurants inside which offers very good food.
