I recently visited Hotel Ashok in Matheran, and I must say, their food truly exceeded my expectations. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The variety in their menu and the authentic taste made the dining experience memorable. Whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the quality and taste remained consistently excellent. If you're visiting Matheran, I highly recommend trying the food at Hotel Ashok - it's definitely one of the highlights of the stay

Overall decent experience. The resort is very far from others at a corner of the hill station. If you are new it will be longer to reach. They have hotel board and arrows for direction. Food: It is a pure veg resort so non veg lovers should stay away from this. Food quality is very good (all lunch, dinner and breakfast) but still I am a non veg eater so not much of a delicacy for me. Rooms: Deluxe rooms are average to good quality. We didn't stay in the tent so no idea about it. The bathroom has very hot water and it's good.(Only 7 to 10am as they say) Property: In the jungle covered by trees, it has lot of monkeys roaming there. If you take the buffet food to eat outside the dining hall, beware. The swimming pool was too dirty and not sure when the water was cleaned last time. *Not Recommended* for Families with kids as they allow drinking anywhere on the property. One group of boys who stayed beside our room were drinking all night and creating noise. So I would say this resort is not for family with kids. Price: they charged us 2k per person (includes lunch, dinner and breakfast) along with AC Deluxe room which I think is good deal considering the quality of food.
Great Stay, But Price Could Be Better I recently stayed at this hotel and overall, it was an excellent experience. The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-maintained, offering a comfortable environment. The food was delicious, with a variety of options that satisfied our tastes. Service was top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff making sure everything was perfect throughout our stay. However, I do feel the price was a bit on the higher side. For a 24-hour stay for two people along with 3 year child, the charge of 6000 seemed a little steep, especially considering it was a weekday. While the quality of the stay was great, I would have appreciated a more reasonable price for the value provided.
"My stay at Ashok Hotel was an amazing experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the hotel was impeccably maintained. The food was delicious, offering a variety of flavors. I especially loved the outdoor games like cricket, badminton, and archery, which added a fun and active touch to the stay. The staff was incredibly helpful and made sure everything was perfect. Overall, a fantastic place with great food, excellent service, and enjoyable activities. Highly recommend and would love to visit again!"**
I had one of the most comfortable stays and fun trip in monsoon which checking in at this heritage hotel. The best part is its walkable distance to matheran market and matheran station. It's located near to Paymaster market which is a beautiful garden and nearby sunset trekking points to enjoy the pleasant atmosphere. The hotel has neat rooms for all- couple rooms, big rooms and tent stays. The food at this hotel is super delicious. They serve unlimited buffet pure vegetarian lunch, dinner and breakfast. So many indoor and outdoor games to enjoy like swimming pool, uno, badminton, cricket, arrow etc. There is DJ night and live singing also that you can dance and sing your heart out with your group. Adventure activities (extra charges- consult at reception) also can be done at this hotel like zip line, burma bridge, commando crossing and hanging plank. And spend the night in the middle of nature. Staying here you'll feel so relaxed amidst forest with the sounds of birds, greenery all around, no pollution, delicious food, and so many activities to do will add all up in a perfect getaway from bustling city. Loved my stay here.
No promises were fulfilled. Washrooms were super dirty. It was my worst decision to go on my 1st valentine after wedding. It ruined everything. Even the food was worst. No facilities were provided. Have to take care of your belongings as no safety measures are took by hotel. Non veg food was not available as they committed during booking. No fun activities were there as shown on the website or Google pics. None of the commitment were fullfilled like bornfire or trek or food. Nothing was there. It was the worst experience I ever had. Will suggest to never book this.
I visited Hotel Ashok on weekends. There was no rush in hotel as it was off season weekend. - ID check is strict. - Rooms were clean, but 4 sharing room was conjusted, So I suggest to go with 2 sharing. - Ambience is good. But the hotel is far away from market. If you want to stay in hotel only, without exploring matheran, then it is a good option, else look for stay near market. - Hospitality is good, staff is polite. - Food is also good, decent. Not spicy, not tasteless, just good. - So many options and activities to do in resort, like badminton, cricket, football, pool, etc. You can spend your day there. - Night music was good ad engagging. - Tents are also available.
Ashok Hotel in Matheran offers a wonderful retreat amidst nature's splendor. Surrounded by dense greenery, the serene and peaceful ambiance makes it an ideal destination to relax and rejuvenate. The property is expansive, and the blend of vintage charm with modern amenities ensures a memorable stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable, though simple, maintaining the rustic charm of the location. The dining experience is exceptional, with superb food served across all meals--whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The flavors are rich, and the quality is unmatched, making it one of the highlights of the stay. The courteous and helpful staff, though not professionally trained, go out of their way to ensure you have a pleasant experience. The hotel also offers a variety of activities to keep guests entertained. From live music and DJ nights to playing cricket and enjoying a swim in the pool, there's something for everyone. Children, in particular, will enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and spacious play areas. The live singing during our stay added a delightful touch to the evenings. Its location, approximately a 15-20 minute walk from the market, might be challenging for those who prefer proximity to shops. However, for nature lovers, this adds to the charm, offering a quieter and more tranquil setting. Sunset Point, also a 15-20 minute walk away, provides breathtaking views that are worth the effort. One minor inconvenience is the availability of hot water, limited to 7-10 AM due to its location in a dense forest area. It would be great if the hotel could extend this facility throughout the day, especially for families with young children. Overall, Ashok Hotel provides an enriching experience, perfect for family vacations or romantic getaways. Its lush surroundings, delectable food, and engaging activities make it a destination you'll want to revisit. Highly recommended for those seeking a serene escape from the city hustle.
