**Weekend Stay at Harihareshwar: Beautiful Location, But In Need of Attention**||We decided to visit Harihareshwar over the weekend for a quick getaway. Not having made an advance booking, we assumed that rooms would be available on a Sunday, but upon arrival, we quickly realized that most of the rooms had already been booked. After a bit of luck, we managed to secure a non-AC room, though it wasn't exactly what we had in mind.||The journey to the resort wasn't smooth either. The signboards were unclear, and we missed an exit, driving an extra 2 kilometres before finally asking locals for directions. Once we got on track, the drive was scenic, but the signage definitely needs improvement.||The property itself is quite large and organized into distinct sections based on room types. The reception building houses the basic AC and non-AC rooms. Further downhill, there are the sea-facing cottages, and finally, at the far end of the property, you'll find the premium suites. There is also a separate restaurant on the premises.||While the premium suites seemed to be in better condition, the rest of the property is in a state of decline. The rooms, though spacious, were far from what I would call 'decent.' They had basic amenities, but the overall experience felt quite outdated. Maintenance is sorely lacking throughout the property, with visible garbage, plastic, and alcohol bottles scattered in various areas. This gave the resort a neglected feel, which was quite disappointing, especially considering the property's potential.||Curious about the lack of upkeep, we spoke with the staff. They informed us that the government had already signed a lease deal with one of the major resort chains, and once that deal is finalized, the current property will be demolished and rebuilt. This explains the lack of renovation and maintenance efforts at the moment.||Despite its shortcomings, the location of the resort is truly beautiful. The views are serene, and the surrounding area is peaceful, but the poor maintenance really detracted from what could have been a fantastic experience. If you're looking for a quick getaway, this place might still be worth considering, but don't expect much in terms of amenities or upkeep.||In conclusion, while Harihareshwar offers a stunning location, the current state of the property leaves much to be desired. If you can look past the maintenance issues, it could still be a decent spot for a short stay, but be prepared for an underwhelming experience. Hopefully, once the new resort chain takes over, the place will see the improvements it so desperately needs.
The resort is in very pathetic condition. Some cottages are damaged. My room was neat and clean inside. But no service boy. Kitchen was good. and food also was good. Sea view rooms are charged higher but there is no sea view from room. A distant view from Balcony is availble. Will not recommend.
I recently stayed at MTDC Resort in Harihareshwar and found the experience to be average. The resort boasts a prime location with serene surroundings, offering a peaceful retreat close to nature. However, the overall maintenance of the property leaves much to be desired. The rooms are spacious but a bit unclean. Additionally, the absence of room service and intercom facilities made it inconvenient to request basic amenities. Dining options were limited, with a menu that didn't offer much variety. The food was decent in taste but felt overpriced considering the limited choices available. While the resort's location is undoubtedly its strongest asset, providing easy access to the beach and beautiful sea views, the overall experience could be significantly enhanced with better maintenance and improved services.
The property is not well maintained at all. There is a lot of debris lying around almost everywhere. The rooms are old and the wear and tear is visible to a great extent. For 4k per night for an executive ac room (non sea view), the overall experience was not worth it one bit. The food is okay-ish, nothing to write home about. From a beach point of view the location is decent, though I wish it was cleaner.
I visited on 9th feb'25. Great Location but run down property. The rooms were clean, hot water geyser working, clean linen. However the exterior is run down, the landscaping is non existent. The canteen service still runs on coupon basis, imagine being given one item and tea as complimentary breakfast for a INR 2600/- non-AC room! The canteen staff attitude is typical govt employee style. However Sujoy & Suyash the 2 managers are very helpful, friendly and nice people. MTDC seems to think that when the bookings are coming then why invest in maintaining and spending on property upkeep?
A Fantastic Stay in Harihareshwar Let me be honest--our family stayed in their cottage for one day, and it was a fantastic experience, especially compared to other accommodations in the area. Pros: The location is peaceful and offers a unique charm. The canteen serves absolutely delicious food, making the stay even more enjoyable. They offer discounts depending on the category of cottage you book, which is a nice bonus. Things to Note: The cottages are a bit old, but they're still comfortable. At night, the place can feel a bit eerie, so it might not be ideal for someone who gets scared easily. Overall, I'm happy with the experience and would recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable stay in Harihareshwar.
The resort is a bit secluded, offering a very peaceful atmosphere near the beach. The view from the room is beautiful, but the property appears to be poorly maintained and is starting to feel deserted. Airtel network doesn't work here, and the hotel doesn't provide Wi-Fi--only Vodafone and Jio have proper connectivity across the Konkan area. Breakfast was complimentary, but the options were limited. We had our lunch and dinner at the MTDC restaurant ,the food was tasty and reasonably priced.
