BEST location for an Ellora Caves visit - two minute walk to entrace. It allowed us to see the main Kailas cave 16 at dawn, with almost no one there. Magical. We walked back and forth easily to the hotel for our meals throughout a long, wonderful day exploring the caves. Stayed two nights, with 12 hours total visiting the caves. Great cave facing cottage! It is roomy, airy, comfortable, and the garden is lovely. We ate at the attached restaurant for all our meals and really enjoyed the food and service.

We went to Grishneswar Jyotirlinga near Shambaji Nagar on 22 November 2024. We need to stay for 2 nights to have darshan of Jyotirlinga and Ellora Caves. Initially we planned to stay at Shambaji Nagar ten I found Hotel Kailash just by the side of Ellora caves and checked. I found that this hotel is good and stayed here for 2 nights. This is a Huge Property with AC and non AC Cottages. The Cottages are spacious and clean and decent. The Cottage has a large and decent Bath Room, Toiletries are provided and the Bed covers, blankets, Towels are all clean. The attached Restaurant serves good food and I think this is the only decent and Hygrine Restaurant in this area. The food is very good. Most of the People visiting Ellora caves all take Lunch here. The staff are very good and very co operative, particularly Mr Santosh, the manager. I contacted him for Taxi from Airport and for arrangements for Puja at Temple. He provided contacts who are Excellent. He is always there to help and his response on calls and Whats App are very prompt. I feel that the property needs a bit more maintenance and up keep. Its very large and may take a more effort. Excellent place.
Hotel Kailash is a 55 year old Hotel which is 100 meters from Ellora caves, the nearest hotel at Ellora. The hotel has beautiful and spacious rooms, you can see the caves from the garden of this hotel, and if you are booking in advance you can go and book the rooms from their website. The people working here are very polite and they will take care of you and your family totally. They have an inside restaurant, food is a bit costly but worth it as the quantity is pretty good. They have their own parking space. The manager is very helpful. There is a big lawn with rides so that the kids can also enjoy it along with adults. Beautiful stay.
The best possible hotel to visit Ajanta caves. Walkable distance. The hotel is good and the best possible restaurant in the area. If you are reaching at night it will take some efforts to wake up the hotel staff but rest is excellent. It has place for kids to play.
Perfectly situated by the entrance to the caves for that all important early start (I got there at 7am and there were very few people about. It only started to fill around 10 and only Kailas gets busy). The grounds are also very pleasant. The non a/c rooms are in a block away from the main building. From a distance they look functional and fairly new. Inside they are large and bare but clean, if a bit worn like many mid-range Indian hotels. Bed was very hard. My shower was rather weak but not as weak as the wifi (which is free all the time). Better to use the wifi in the restaurant which also provides an extensive menu and is top quality. The staff, of which there are many, are not that attentive even during very quiet periods. Overall a decent place to stay
Hotel Kailas NOT Hotel Kailas 'Lodging'. If you have any experience with hotels in India, you know that every one-star rating is followed by 10 or more 5-star ratings without any comments. So you may never see this review once it is buried by all the paid ratings. That said, I am doing my best to help out fellow travelers, so I have done my part. If you are using an app to book this hotel (like Hotels.com), you may show up here only to find that you do not have a room and none are available. Even though Google Maps and Hotels.com show this to be the correct location, the manager here says there is another hotel with a similar name 50 kilometers away that you are actually booked at. Apparently, it happens all the time. So unless you want to spend your time looking for a place to stay when you get here, instead of visiting the caves, I would recommend a different choice, or roll the dice, and wish for the best. Best of luck.
The best of this hotel is its location, it is a 5 min. walk to Ellora Caves and the Girineshwar temple is also 10-15 min walk. The hotel rooms are clean but not properly maintained, still its better than the options available at this place. Lot of open space in the hotel premises and the food is very good. Taste is great, fresh and served well...
Kailas hotel is located at a very great location. It is a 2 min. walk to Ellora caves and the Girineshwar temple is also 5-7 min. walk. The hotel rooms are clean and there is a lot of open space in the hotel. A lot of big swings are put up in the garden near the rooms. Had a good time relaxing on them after the dinner. The owners are very friendly and they guided us with best timings to visit the temple to avoid the crowd. Would recommend this place for a family stay as well.
