Had an amazing stay at this palace. It is not a palace turned into resort.. it is a Palace and the host is so warm. Reaching the place might be a little tricky because it is a small lane and you need to keep an eye so that you don't miss it. The place is very very Royal. They grow everything that is used for cooking and the food served is absolutely delicious. They showed us around the guava orchards and told about how they manage to be self sustained and make profit too. The food was so home-like and absolutely delicious. It gives you an opportunity to stay amidst nature and you can even enjoy bird watching. We were even upgraded to a suite and were so well taken care of. Also, we could not go as per our original schedule and the re scheduling was absolutely hassle free. Loved the place. Absolutely recommended

We wanted to visit Mandu, but stay in a good place within reasonable distance. We chanced upon Jhirabag Palace, and what a place it turned out to be! Right from the welcome to amenities to food, everything was par excellence. We were checked in by smiling staff and shown the room, which turned out to be a full suit (including exclusive sit out). The accommodation is lavish to say the least. The biggest surprise turned out to be the food. They have fixed veg menu (you may order non-veg from ala carte) prepared with home grown vegetables. The fare was delectable and excellently presented. I must say it was the best veg menu I have had in years.||||The stay was very comfortable as the palace is situated in huge area with no disturbance. Though we stayed for one night only, but the experience was so nice that we have decided to spend more time there.
This is a restored mansion originally built in the 1860's. It was used to host dignitaries, many of them British in bygone times. The hotel has a 200 acre farm attached which is run on organic principles with the food being sourced either from here or from local sustainable suppliers. We could not have been made more welcome and the manager Umesh was there at every turn to cater for every wish. The room (Jaipur Suite) was vast with a lovely external private seating area. The dinners we had were plentiful and full of variety and unparalleled mangoes. Breakfast was also extensive.....so much so, we skipped lunch. We had several very informative chats with Suzanne who expanded on the organic ethic behind the property. Add to this, beautiful grounds, birdlide, frogs, vintage cars and a small museum, this was a perfect stay. Thank you to all the staff who made this visit special.
A real nice place where you will love to stay ! First of all it is the most peaceful place we have been in India and the welcome is friendly and nice. You will be discretly attended by nice people too and be able to visit the residence (old cars, small museum, plantations, garden with birds..). It is not very old and used to be the residency of british officers before independence. The restauration has been done very nicely keeping the simplicity but adding confort. Food are nice and prices corrects. Note that it is easy to stay in Dhar and visit in one day small tours different places such as : Mandu, Maheshwar, Indore, Bagh caves.... We sincely loved this place ! Thanks
This place felt like an austere institution on arrival and at PS200 a night in no way comparable to other heritage buildings we'd visited at 50-75% less. No decoration colour or flowers. Our room cold, dark and gloomy and we couldn't see out of the windows. As we were the only guests I'm sure there was a better room. Too tired after journey to argue. |Offered snacks after arrival which we took to be included as no price list proffered and nothing said. Other places make it clear what is included or extra. This smacked of deception. Similarly the beer. Cheese sandwich had no cheese in it. |We weren't consulted about our dinner so fish and meat were offered which I don't eat. The curries were totally bland as was assumed we didn't like spice. The hassle and wait while this was sorted made a dismal meal. Second evening improved with consultation. |Parking refused for our driver although offered online. |Walk in grounds ruined by two excitable large dogs, apparently guard dogs, running at us, totally out of control. I'm phobic about dogs and went into a panic attack as no one could stop them jumping up. No one wanted it to happen but it did. |Some insistence on payment on arrival. Promised a receipt but it never happened even though I asked several times. |I applaud the organic natural ethic and the reduction of plastic by using large containers for toiletries. However why these ideals have to be accompanied by unmerited high prices for such a mediocre joyless experience I do not know.
The Jhira Bagh Palace was a British guest house prior to falling into disrepair until a family purchased it and brought it back to its regal life. The design and decor is unique and reflects a bit of Art Deco style as it was remodeled in approximately 1945. The owner provides a lovely tour of the property and they have a nice museum of historical items from the region. |The rooms are huge and hot water was in good supply. The Wi-Fi service is intermittent and only accessible in the tea room. The service team was very thoughtful and prompt. Meals were made to preference and very good.
It was a remarkable experience. Many Many thanks to the entire Jhira Bagh Family who made this special occasion even more special. ||It was an experience which shall always remain in our heart.||Incredible. We shall surely come back for more. ||This is a MUST visit for those who like a luxurious stay complete with grandeur, midst of mother nature, unadulterated food & environment.
If you want to visit some of the most enchanting places of India like Mandu, Bagh or the river Narmada you should really stay in this palace - a fascinating deco style guesthouse that will charm you and which you will find hard to leave. Their welcome is extremely warm, the food, all organic, is cultivated in the gardems surrounding the building and cooked in perfect Indian style. In the morning you'll be woken only by the sound of birds and peacocks that populate the garden. Staying at Jhhira Bagh is an experience that will bring you back to the 1920s and the time of maharajas. Walking around the gardens you'll find yourself fully immersed in the beauty of India.
