This hotel was ok but it was still a littlebit tired and Soviet style.|The people who work at the hotel is helpful and speak english.|I cannot say i was impressed of the breakfast but it was ok to just get a cup of tea and something to eat before you start a new day. The bed was good but i was missing a movie channel in english on the tv.|There is only a short walk from the hotel to the city centre.|I stayed at the Club Hotel part of the hotel by the way.
I stayed for a week as this was the official competition hotel. If I understood correctly then there are actually 2 or 3 hotels in the same building, depending on which floor you are staying. In general the "Dostuk" hotel was run down and dirty. The 5th floor was somewhat passable - just old, but the 9th floor was below any standards - massive stains on carpets and in general dirty. The same goes for the room as wallpaper was peeling off, loose cables stuck out and the wall sockets were loose as well. The full-floor carpet was dirty and room-service visited twice during the week. The bathroom was fairly average, but you had to leave the water running for 5-10 minutes before any hot water started to appear. If anything positive can be said then the room luckily had a TV and a fridge. The wifi worked better than expected, all things considered. Would not recommend!
The location is wonderful - it's just beside Victory Square and the Circus, and it's not a far walk from Ala-Too Square on a mild day. Any destination not walkable from the hotel is a very cheap YandexGo trip away. ||||I was kindly given an early check-in, and reception also kindly held on to my luggage at check-out so that I could sightsee further. ||||The "junior suite" (at $50 a night) is an incredibly spacious room for one traveler, and the air conditioning and comfort of the bed were wonderful. The television had a great variety of international news stations and Central Asian music channels. Unfortunately, the mini-fridge did not work at all despite being "on", and there was only one socket where you could charge electronics. ||||Housekeeping staff were kind and diligent, and the hotel's electrician kindly lent me an electrical converter for charging my devices. ||||The only true issue I can think of is that the nighttime staff is haunted by a malcontent male receptionist (he has a large scar on the right side of his head) who wants nothing to do with non-Russian speakers. Apparently, I asked him too many questions about Kyrgyzstan, so he refused to answer me and instead summoned a female staff member to assist me every time after that. A few other staff members also seemed disinterested in and bothered by helping me.
Old school Soviet era hotel in a good central location. The staff were friendly and helpful. The advice from the ladies about nearby places to eat and drink was spot on. The room was clean and everything worked, It is showing its age but I did not find that to be a problem. A good view from the balcony on a clear day. I thought that the breakfast was uninspiring but still worth paying for. I would be happy to stay there again.

Back to the USSR is about most part of the hotel, however it has quite a nice Ecoland Vegetarian Restaurant, new Congress Hall, and one floor of the hotel is privately owned and is nice. But the rest is awful. How can they have 5 stars???
The hotel is quite old, worn-out and not very clean. In the room I could find a lot of scratches and holes everywhere, but the bed was clean and without bugs. Hot water was running, there was an AC and TV with array of local and Russian TV-stations. ||||Breakfast was not very enticing. All buffet items were placed on one small table, basically vegetable salads, buns and eggs. That was all. The reception was a bit slow, my request for a morning call was confirmed but it never came. Credit cards or local cash accepted for payment.||||There are some advantages to staying in Dostuk. It's centrally located, no need to take taxi. A bank is in the same building and at some 30 EUR/night it's reasonably priced.
