Sunview Beach Resort & Spa by Citrine

It was a quick decision to go to Varkala. During the trip, I searched for a good place to stay with my family through friends, but nothing worked out. Later, I looked at OYO and MakeMyTrip. I had booked through OYO earlier, but some time ago, I booked a room in Palarivattam, Ernakulam, which was suitable for family stay, and when I finally went there, I ended up in an establishment full of female attendants. Also, since I had given a toilet-sized room in Hyderabad and given OYO work, I now rely on OYO only for data. Since MakeMyTrip seemed a little expensive, I also checked goibibo. It had this beautiful SUNVIEW resort that we wanted. It said that I wanted a swimming pool. It should be budget friendly. The rate was lower than others. To be honest, I have never traveled like this before after booking late. I was worried that when I got there, I would be told that there was no room. However, we were welcomed by the very nice and polite Manager Mr. BHASKAL sir at the reception. We were 2 adults and 3 children. He prepared 2 extra beds for us right away without charging any money. It was a very smooth check in. It was a more beautiful heritage resort than we saw in the picture. A beautiful swimming pool right in front. Beyond that, the sea. A nice ambience. We went out to eat. The staff there, Saifuka, who arranged the car for us, was also a nice man. We went to the nearby Chimney restaurant. The food was good there. There was a complimentary breakfast from the resort in the morning. It was a good super buffet. Even though the check out time was 12 o'clock, Bhaskal sir allowed us to use the room until 5 o'clock in the evening. Usually, in previous experiences, they try to squeeze the guests out as much as possible by making up some reason. But here, Mr. Bhaskal, a good man, gave us a different experience. That is why I am referring this resort to you. The reward for this referral is the excellent service we received. And, I believe that Mr. Bhaskal sir and the team will be able to give you even better than what we got. Thank you team SUNVIEW!

I have visited Varkala a few times but, had never been able to get a booking at this place as it was always full. However, this time we did get it. Location and ambience is great with the beach view and the pool side. The cliffton restaurant prepares an amazing delicacy with room service options available. The support staff are so humble and kind that you would love their manners. Hospitality of Shreelatha maa'm is exceptional. She has assisted us in each and every request that we had within the resort protocol. Overall one amazing place at Varkala that I would recommend.

Stay was very pleasant and beautiful. It had scenic views and swimming pool was cherry on top. Pool was pretty clean even though many people came on daily basis. Manager was very cool and approachable for any help. Overall it was great experience.

Our family had a lovely stay in Sunview resort . The swimming pool was an attraction for our kids . And the beach is just a 15 minutes away from the property. The view from the rooms is amazing. We all will be back .

Guests are lured with the promise of their single panoramic room. And then at the time of check-in they say that the room is overbooked and cannot be provided. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS IS A PATTERN. We had booked the stay for 3 nights directly from the hotel with 50% advance (and not Agoda or any other booking website) so it should not have happened. After a lot of arguments, we were given for ONLY one day. And on that day we finally got the room with late check-in AFTER 2pm. Please be mindful that you will not get the panaromic room FOR SURE even if you book in advance. The rooms are average and service is average. The location is nice with a good view of the ocean.

Rooms are very small. The Washroom is also small. No lift. Very less hot water from geyser. There is no temperature controller for the swimming pool, so pool water is cold always. Doesn't have a road, and rainy days will be bad to walk in that street. Staff are friendly. Breakfast options are limited but good taste. View from Beach is only for a few rooms, and that is not that great. Cafe has very few options to eat for lunch or dinner.
