Soul Hostels, Varkala - Black Beach

I had the pleasure of staying at Soul Hostel recently, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of amazing. From the moment I stepped in, I could feel a sense of warmth and positivity that stayed throughout my time there. The rooms were incredibly clean, cozy, and thoughtfully designed, offering both comfort and functionality. Every little detail--from the neatly arranged beds to the well-maintained common areas--showed how much care is put into keeping the space inviting for guests. The property had a vibrant yet peaceful vibe, making it the perfect blend for both work and relaxation. The hostel lies right next to the black sand beach, offering a stunning view and an added touch of serenity to the stay. A special thanks to Salman, the manager, for his warm hospitality and prompt support throughout our stay. He ensured we had everything we needed and made us feel truly welcome. The ambience of the hostel is worth appreciating. There's a lovely balance of aesthetic charm and comfort--from the decor to the music, the lighting, and the open spaces. And the party arrangements made at the property were extraordinary--far beyond expectations. Everything was so well-coordinated, creating such a lively, memorable evening that brought everyone together in the best way. Overall, Soul Hostel truly lives up to its name. It has a soul of its own, and my stay there will always be a warm memory. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a comfortable, fun, and welcoming place to stay.

I had a wonderful stay at Soul's Hostel. The ambience and colors create a soothing atmosphere, making it a perfect place to relax. Despite the budget-friendly pricing, the facilities provided are excellent. The dormitories and washrooms are well-maintained and spotlessly clean. So me and my friends(all girls) stayed at soul hostels for 3 nights and it was an awesome experience, the staff are friendly, the ambience and location of the hostel is just perfect, you can walk to the black beach and also many restaurants are near as it's walkable distance to north cliff market. About the rooms, we stayed in the 4 bed female dorm, it was very well maintained, clean and spacious bathroom. I would really suggest this hostel for your stay in varkala , as a group of 4 girls we felt pretty safe here and the location also is just awesome. Loved staying here.

The room was clean and comfortable, which we appreciated. However, our overall experience was unfortunately overshadowed by the poor attitude of the staff--particularly the manager, Mr. Rahul. We had booked a 3-day stay, but on the second day, one of us fell seriously ill and had to be taken to the city hospital. As a result, we had to leave early. Despite providing a valid medical certificate, we were told that refunds are only granted in cases of medical emergencies--ironically, our situation was a medical emergency. To make matters worse, Mr. Rahul responded with a complete lack of empathy. His exact words--"You chose to fall sick"--were not only inappropriate but deeply insensitive. It's incredibly disheartening to be treated this way during a distressing time. Experiences like this can leave a lasting negative impression. A little compassion goes a long way, and sadly, it was entirely missing here. I hope the management reflects on how they treat guests in difficult situations.

The private hostel room are not worth the price. In the room we stayed from 16-18 April, the paint was chipping abs the ac took hours to cool the room. Moreover, they don't even offer you more than 1 bottle of water even if 2 people are staying in a room. |But the worst bit if the manager, Rahul who is not only rude but downright indecent. When we requested him to cancel 1 day from our booking (due to a serious medical emergency), he not only refused but also said, "You chose to fall sick". My friend required am immediate visit to a hospital and despite this being an unavoidable situation, Rahul shrugged, screamed, and ridiculed us for even asking for a refund. Please note that Rahul's style of speaking is highly misogynistic if he feels you can do him no harm i.e. he clearly discriminates between local and foreign travelers.

It's a great stay for group of friends or for couples. 2 mins walking from beach and very close to north cliff. Great ambiance, clean rooms, helpful staff. If you're looking for bike rental or any activity in varkala they can arrange all for you..

Very beautiful stay, I just love the view and it is near location to beach. Also, the behaviour of staff is really gentle, he took me to the airport at 3 am & many options like playing games anyone can go to the terrace for the same. No-one will regret to stay here in this affordable price.
