Mad about Coco - Yoga & Beach Retreat

Great location, 1 min walk from North cliff. Fantastic restaurant attached to the guest house, the best food and restaurant service we experienced in Kerala, we stayed all over Kerala for our holiday. We are indian and we thought the food and service was outstanding. It's a real shame the service in the guest house did not match the restaurant. It should be pointed out that the restaurant is a separate entity and has a different name to the guest house. Rooms are very bland and dark, everything works and as it should. Bathroom was ok, but No hot water from the shower !! Which is advertised on the website. False advertising !!! Hot water from the tap but not from the shower !!! Service from guest house staff was adequate nothing to shout about, no interest was taken in us or our stay. A very hands off approach, if you don't ask then you are just left alone, a very cold and unfriendly experience. The grounds are nice with 2 small chillout areas with free water, tea coffee provided. Yoga studio on the roof was lovely and available for you to use. Although no yoga classes or yoga teacher, which was very disappointing as we booked this guest house as they advertised that there were daily yoga classes. Best things about this guest house are the location and the restaurant which is attached to the guest house. Please note, no daily yoga classes and no hot water in the shower only from the tap.

What I loved about the stay was that it had a private less than 1 min walk to the cliff. The property host and staff were very nice and helpful. They helped us with all the queries and contacts for activities and local travel. We had booked a budget non ac room since it was a last minute plan but the room was clean and nice. Would definitely love to stay here again. What I think can be improved is the complimentary breakfast at their restaurant Sun Francisco. The vegetarian options were limited especially when you are staying for multiple nights and it gets repetitive. Also the restaurant staff wasn't as warm as the hotel staff. Overall it was a good experience

We had a very poor experience at this hotel. Despite asking multiple times, the staff refused to help my elderly mother carry her suitcases down a flight of stairs. They also made excuses and disappeared when we requested assistance walking her to the taxi rank. The lack of basic courtesy and support, especially for someone elderly, was incredibly disappointing. This level of service is unacceptable, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone--particularly those traveling with older family members or needing any assistance. The rooms are also very very stuffy and have no air flow, doesn't help that they are dark and not decorated.

Mad About Coco is the best place to stay in Varkala. The owner, Anita, does a brilliant job creating an atmosphere that is extremely relaxed, friendly and social. The rooms have everything you need, are impeccably clean and comfortable, and have beautiful hanging seats on the balconies. The place is very well managed by Samuel and all your needs are taken care of, including washing, room cleaning, tea and coffee, and help and advice booking local activities. You even get a free breakfast at the connected restaurant, Sun Francisco. The options are great and the place is so relaxing you might find you end up spending the whole morning chatting away and watching eagles and kites fly around your head.

Can not fault this place! The room and location just perfect , near enough to the main street with many excellent restaurants and shops but so quiet. Samuel and Anita are the best hosts, kind and caring and make this place a place of calm Morning and evening yoga classes additional cost but worth it and the yoga studio could be used at other times for personal use. Loved every single minute of our time here and will be coming back!

The rooms and ambience and view everything is good 10/10 but my small request is place one 5 fit mirror in the rooms. Thank you for your service. And one of the best stay i got.

Anita and Samuel were always welcoming and helpful. Location was great, just off the main front at Varkala Cliff, but still quiet and secluded. Rooms were comfy and air-con worked great. Included breakfast at Sun Francusco was lovely and staff great there too. Fully recommend.

Amazing location , amazing food and awesome hospitality . Definitely recommended .our stay comfortable . Location is perfect and the property has beach access. The food at paper moon is just fantastic
