A Memorable Stay to Cherish - 2020 Visit We visited this property back in 2020, just as COVID-19 restrictions were easing and travel was beginning to feel possible again. This was our first trip after months of staying home, and it couldn't have been more perfect. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel truly special. We were the only guests at the time, which made the experience even more unique and intimate. The warm welcome we received and the unexpected room upgrade to the presidential suite took us by surprise - we genuinely couldn't have asked for more. The food-inclusive package was worth every bit - the meals were delicious and thoughtfully prepared. We still fondly remember the chef personally coming over to ask for feedback, which added a personal touch that's hard to come by. The suite itself was stunning, with views that we'll never forget. Even today, we consider this one of our most unmatched and memorable stays. A heartfelt thank you to the team for creating such a beautiful memory during a time when the world needed comfort the most.

Despite ongoing renovations, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The breakfast buffet offered a good variety of options, and the room service was prompt and efficient. A special thank you to Diya and Faizal, who delivered impeccable service. Their attention to detail and genuine care made a significant difference in our stay. They were always ready to assist with any requests and provided a level of service that exceeded expectations. While the renovations were noticeable, the impact on our stay was minimal, thanks to the proactive efforts of the staff. We highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning once the renovations are complete to experience the fully realized property. The dedication to guest satisfaction is evident, and we were thoroughly impressed.

Room was clean and tidy, staffs were very welcoming. Had a lot of spa services. The hotel also had a direct connection to the beach which was convenient. Had a memorable experience at the pool with my family. Breakfast was good. Checked out very smoothly.

Gateway is a small and a cozy property in Varkala. The staff there makes a lot of effort in giving you an excellent stay. Right from the time we entered the property, the staff ensured, we were taken care of. The food was mostly good and we got excellent service from the staff. Overall it was a memorable stay at the Gateway property.

Extremely happy that I opted to stay at Gateway Varkala. Best thing is the staff members are extremely good and friendly. They create a Home type environment and take personal interest in service. Food is excellent. Kerala specific food is served as a snack (no charges), this is very unique. Rooms are very neat and comfortable. I had a good sea view room. Finally its a value for money. The property has a great view of the Arabian Sea and is perched on top of a cliff. Accessing the beach is a 5 min hike through the property until you reach the public path, which is another short hike through pretty brooks and country scenes. The hike back to the top is breathtaking - literally than figuratively! The rooms are spacious but a tad old in terms of decor and amenities. The whole property could do with a makeover. The food at the restaurant makes up for all that's a miss at the property. The restaurant staff are very good with service and make good recommendations based on your taste preferences. The spa was equally good and affordable.

Property is old but well maintained. |While check-in, there was only one staff, but he made sure the check-in process was smooth. The room we were allotted has some dirt, and the tea stirrer from previous guest was not cleaned. But staff quickly took care of that. |Pool was well maintained. Staff was quite helpful and explained about the places that we can visit. This helped us plan as were there only for a day. |Check-out process was smooth and without delay.

This hotel is very nice, with large and clean rooms overlooking the gardens, which are immaculate. The swimming pool is beautiful and very relaxing - we also enjoyed a lovely game of croquet whilst here! There was construction going on whilst we stayed which distracted from the experience a little, and many items of food on the pool menu were not available. Whilst all staff were very friendly, I didn't feel like the breakfast food options or restaurant layout was reflective of a luxury hotel. Similarly, there is no private beach access, it is just a shortcut down to be road leading to the beach, albeit pleasant enough.
