Knowing it was the holiday season, we booked 2 months in advance. We had booked a standard non-AC room. The room we were allotted had a rusty standing fan in a corner and a huge hole in the wall. The room was on the second floor with no elevator. Also, it smelled terribly. We were not provided any towels, water bottles, or an in-room kettle. Having raised these issues, we were moved to another property of theirs nearby, which was no longer sea facing, which we had booked. The other property did not even have the most basic amenities, including drinking glasses. And when we asked for running hot water, we were provided with a hot water coil. Usually, no one was at the reception. The only good thing was that the night guard and the receptionist, when available, at the property tried to cooperate to the best of their abilities. I would definitely not recommend and will not be revisiting.
Our stay at Black Beach Resort was a mixed experience. Initially, the rooms we were given were in very poor condition--dirty bathrooms, poorly maintained beds, and an overall lack of upkeep. We had to speak to the manager to get upgraded to better rooms, which were more spacious and well-maintained. For the price we paid (4,500-5,000 per room) we expected better quality from the start. On the bright side, the room service was good, and the staff were kind and helpful throughout our stay. However, the breakfast left a lot to be desired. At 250 per head, the options were very limited and repetitive (boiled eggs, bread, coffee, noodles, dosa, and curry). Instead, I'd recommend trying the cafes on the cliff, which offer a variety of fresh and delicious options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. What truly stands out about this place is the stunning view and its proximity to the beach. The resort is very calm, serene and perfect for soaking in the beauty of Varkala's coastline. Overall, it's a decent stay if you're here for the location and views but there's room for improvement in terms of maintenance and dining options.
One of the good & affordable rooms and very clean restrooms and rooms! Worth for the money! Compared to other Expensive rooms in the names of resorts! Service was Good! Only is issue is that breakfast could have been complimentary!
Very poor service at hotel rates are high service is zero. They use to misbehave with customers they don't even have proper manners how to talk. Very dirty rooms ac also not working it's like dharamshala.
Very unhygienic rooms, no kettle provided, no intercom, full of mosquitoes. No room service for food and even they didn't provide bowl in room for baby food. Breakfast buffet 4/10. Not recommended at all. But cafe staff is good we ask to make special food for baby and they provide it.
I stayed here with my friends for a weekend, booking two adjacent rooms. Unfortunately, our experience with the rooms was disappointing. The bathrooms were not clean - one had a live centipede crawling around, while the other had water drainage issues. Although the staff attempted to address the drainage problem, it persisted during our stay. Another inconvenience was the lack of hot water at night and early mornings, as the resort relies on solar water heaters. When we requested hot water, we were given an immersible heater, which took over 10 minutes to heat a single bucket of water. Additionally, the rooms featured outdated lock-and-key mechanisms, which felt a bit inconvenient. On the positive side, the resort's ambience was pleasant, and the cafeteria offered a fantastic view of the beach, especially during mornings and evenings. A short 5-minute walk along the shore leads to the popular Darjeeling Cafe, which was a nice bonus. Overall, while the location and views were great, the lack of proper maintenance and basic amenities left us disappointed.
They will give you a room with no door handles, no basin and call it a standard ac room because of ac. The door had a gap in the frame and anybody could access the latch. I had to upgrade at extra charge for the room i usually got at every other hotels on my trip!
