Teak House

Quite, serene, peaceful, with nature, amazing hosts!!! If this is what is on your mind, then drive straight to Teak House. I attended an evening get together and dinner party of our group of around 35 pax. It's an old heritage house renovated and maintained by the host. It's situated on the side of a tributary of Periyar River. The river is serene and calm. There is a waterfront lawn, where one can laze and gaze at the river, with teak trees for company. The hosts prepared wonderful tea and snacks. They were very couteous and helped us around. The place is neat and clean and has interesting items in the house. We all relaxed in the evening and also played many games and had some group activities. Finally we had dinner, which was also very tasty and delicious. The approach road is a bit tricky,as always is with places which offer you peace and solitude. We didn't stay here overnight, so cannot comment on the facilities for stay and the rooms available.

If you want a quiet time away from the bustle of Kochi then you'll love this homestay. We had two nights here at the end of our holiday in Kerela and while we chose it mainly for the proximity to the airport we found much more than that.|The accomodation was first class, food great and our hosts charming. Highlights included a tour of the garden to see various spices and fruits growing and a trip out to the local rice fields for a sunset boat ride.|Two tips. |Ask Sunil to show you his bird photos and beware little girls armed with water pistols.

This is a perfect location to spend a few days. We went directly there for a couple of nights after arriving at Kochi airport after a long flight. It is a real haven to rest and recuperate. From the moment we arrived, we were given the most warm welcome by Sunil Elias and his lovely family. We were made to feel so comfortable in their home. The food was outstanding and very plentiful! The room was very comfortable and it is so quiet there. The pool is clean and so welcome in the heat. The location is perfect and the gardens beautiful. It is quiet around the local lanes for a walk. Sunil is a bird enthusiast and wonderful photographer. He is also keen to show off the spices in his garden and share his knowledge. We really did have a brilliant stay and would not hesitate to return there.

Teak House was wonderful! We really felt as if we were part of the family without being pushy. Fun. Wonderful room, books, music, verandah, views and pool. Excellent meals, tea/coffee, beds and wetroom. Hosts couldn't do enough for us. The tour of the teak and spice garden was really special. |12/10 A place to return to.

Sunil, Sapina and their enchanting family could not have been more welcoming and hospitable during our glorious four days in Kerala. Teak House is a stunning place to stay, comfortable and homely but also smart and stylish. The grounds back on to the backwaters, which is a joy to watch from the veranda, as various boats and fishermen cross it all day. There is also a lovely pool. The food we ate every day was beautifully prepared and absolutely stunning. For Sunil nothing was too much trouble. He organised everything for us that we wanted to do, and drove us to many of our chosen locations himself. As a spice expert and great cook it was a huge pleasure to be shown around his garden, which is a living spice box: nutmeg, cloves, peppers, chillies, ginger... It was all there, and picked daily for our delicious meals. We will miss Sunil and treasure his kindness.

A really lovely comfortable house with a beautiful garden||Sunil is an excellent host and goes out of his way to look after his guests. We enjoyed his music and impressive vinyl collection and vintage HiFi!||The food was delicious and we enjoyed relaxing by the pool overlooking the river.||It was a great place to relax at the end of our holiday and is conveniently close to the airport

At the end of a 3 week journey through Kanataka and Kerala we were ready for a relaxing few days before flying home and couldn't have chosen a better location. The property is 'off the beaten track' luckily there was a group of locals to show our driver the correct route. Sunil and family are excellent hosts. The accommodation is first class, spacious, clean and everything is of an excellent quality. Rooms have an outside area for sitting over looking the beautiful and well kept gardens. The swimming pool is a wonderful added bonus. Meals are a very sociable affair and food is of a high standard. Sunil is very knowledgable of local birds, spices and loves his music all of which he is wiliing for you to experience with a trip to visit local birds, a tour around the spices growing in the garden and listening to music from a variety of forms. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property.

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of our Kerala holiday. Very convenient to catch the flight home from Cochin airport. At the end of the garden is alovely swimming pool and the river beyond. Sunil and his family were wonderful hosts. Sunil is a fascinating man with many interests, including bird photography. He will show you his hi-fi set up and stunning collection of vinyl.
