Pros: Rustic, authentic, heritage property. It is great for someone who loves ancient architecture with modern amenities. The living area and bedrooms were comfortable. Cons: (1) Can be confusing to navigate without initial help( had to call the helper to find the bathroom) (2) The backyard was a mess with plastic , beer bottles , overgrown weeds and all other types of refuse. (3) The water in the bathroom health faucets, kitchen, washbasin was a mere dribble which was very frustrating. (4)One of the AC remote had dead batteries (5) No wifi (even though advertised ) (6) The bath towels had a musty smell The place can be exceptional and touch new heights only if the owner takes into consideration the following suggestions for improvement: 1) Have a guide/caretaker in place to welcome the guests and show around . It can be overwhelming and confusing for first timers. 2) Clean up the backyard. It's current state is unbecoming of such a grand ancient property. 3) Ask the worker/cleaner/helper not to put their work clothes to dry in the backyard. 4) Repair the broken fixings in the bathroom. The toothbrush holder is not a place to hang the health faucet! 5) Improve the water pressure with the help of inline pressure pumps which can help boost the water pressure.

I don't think they even deserve a one star, I had booked this property on Airbnb where the policy clearly stated it's a non refundable booking and yet the property owner had cancelled it. When I approached them for the further process, they started ghosting me which is pathetic. I think they should be responsible enough to treat their guests the kind way. Edit: Stop covering up, I had no option to cancel which I told you n times. You don't deserve to be a host.
The house and the surroundings are kept neat and tidy. The stay was peaceful. However we faced some issues after check-in. * The toilet flush was not working in one of the bathrooms. They took an hour after we checked in to repair but it again failed by the end of the day. Since we were to check out the next day we didn't bother to complain again. * In the kitchen we switched on the filter and went after sometime. The whole water was going out instead of filling the filter tank and the kitchen slab was literally a mess. * When we tried to light the stove, we found that it was not working. Later they cleaned the regulator before we could light it up. * The iron box was not working and we managed without ironing our dresses. * The only explanation we got was that one couple had stayed there for a month before we checked in, which I honestly do not think is a genuine justification. * I strongly believe the caretaker has to check these little things before renting out the house.
A wonderful traditional old Kerala house which has been restored with modern comforts (ACs, etc). Excellent value for money. This is not a luxury getaway with posh amenities. This is a quiet and comfortable property with loads of history and character. Please note the ceilings are very low so if you are 6ft tall or more then you will be constantly bending.
First of all, i have two reviews on this cause it deserves one. As I made reservations for this for a personal cause, and I was quite enlightened. I booked this heritage house for a 2 night stay and the experience was very classically modern. The whole heritage gave a old-ish feeling yet very modern, from the outside it looks very old and cozy like a heritage from the old times, by the looks it holds a great cultural significance to our own history. Talking about the interior, its very cozy and warm inside, but most importantly it was neat. Everything went even though we had minor difficulties which didn't matter anyway. The stay was peaceful and the because of the great built and structure it was very relaxing for my body. I saw a review where which it pointed out the issues they faced with this heritage. Quite in fact the difficulties I faced was quite similar because of a customer which stayed there for quite a month but hats of to you all the management of this heritage, The Nalukettu for pulling off a great deal in recovering everything and putting back everything to its place without having much gaps after the customer moved out. After all there would be minor difficulties and we totally let it slide cause after we're all humans, and not perfect. I'm ending my review by saying, it lived up to its expectations and I would definitely love to book this place again and again .
Beautiful heritage building that would have been wonderful if well maintained and managed. Very poorly managed - not aware of our booking despite messaging our arrival time early in the day. Had to wait for caretaker to come open up. There was no offer to send house keeping, so I assume they forgot the booking and the state of the place described below is what you can expect. Very poorly maintained - broken fixings, lopsided dining table, pile of plastic waste in the backyard, vanity tap not working in main bedroom, used soap still in bathroom, no toilet paper just empty toilet paper roll, dirty bucket in bathroom. In the kitchen there was no sugar or coffee, only a box of 1 year old tea bags, dirty plates, no dish washing detergent, A/C remote not working in small bedroom, no flyscreen on windows so couldnt keep them open, cockroach seen day and night, musty towels etc. Beds with bed sheet only - you get your own towel and blanket from a pile in a cupboard. They said they sent someone to fix the broken tap but it didnt happen as we were having dinner with friends and couldn't get back early enough. The cleaning lady came in when we were out for breakfast which I didn't like. I was already very uncomfortable with the hygiene of this place and seeing her cleaning gave me no confidence. Also, stairs to main bedroom is very steep and not suitable for people with mobility issues.
This is a very traditional ancient Kerala home with modern amenities while conserving the 200 year old architecture. Our host was very helpful and brought us mouth watering breakfast every morning. The only downside to our stay was the lack of good wifi which is equally important especially for the younger crowd. Over all our stay was quiet pleasant giving us the opportunity to soak in the age old ambience.
This is a heritage home, where they have 1 fully loaded master bed room and a second bedroom which can treated like a guest room, the ambience is good with lots of common area and kitchen. The best thing about the place is it will take you back couple of decade, lots of things which can relate for the 80's and 90's born people , overall nice experience only one drawback is regarding food , there is no restaurant near by you have to order online
