Kannur Beachdrive Homestay

We had booked this property through Airbnb and had horrible experience. The platform Airbnb is awesome, but not the host. We had doubt regarding whether it's entire homestay or per-room basis as the search result with "entire homestay" on Airbnb threw this listing among others - so I had a chat on the platform and asked explicitly whether the entire platform is listed on Airbnb, the host said yes. The host says only "yes" for every question asked, if the answer is positive. They didn't clarify anything and even make communication properly. While checking out, they asked us extra money (double than what was booked for) outside of Airbnb which is strictly against Airbnb policies. First of all, they didn't know this being the host, secondly when we told them, and did so repeatedly, still they were asking money offline! Then they started being rude and showing smug attitude of being property owners, talking with disrespect with us despite us addressing them as mam and sir. They held us at the gate for 2 hours and delayed our roadtrip back to our hometown that takes 9 hours on road. Upon asking, they were also determined not to call Airbnb, despite being an Airbnb host themselves and getting their biz through it. We had to call Airbnb multiple times and raise multiple tickets after which we got the help finally from Airbnb - the ambassador was quite instrumental though in solving this issue promptly. Some more details: The AC remote didn't work There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom, bathroom window was shut The room (with a double bed and single cot) was not ready upon our arrival to their place after a 9-hour drive and multiple prior intimations! The host talked in "yes" and "no" in Airbnb (or platform) chat - so may expect miscommunication and misled prior information from these comms. They are NOT dog friendly, and the hosts are deeply scared of the most friendliest of mid-sized domesticated and trained dogs. This was evident in the multiple instances of them talking to us in a tone that said they did favour on us by allowing our pets, despite it being clearly talked out on Airbnb (or platform) chat. So if you're bringing dogs, this place is the reverse of ideal. The location is in a secluded road far far away from Kannur's attractions, there is no public transport available from here. Will strongly suggest to book other places if you're visiting Kannur.
