Santa Maria - A Premium Boutique Homestay by the Sea I Trivandrum Airport 1Mile

I went to Trivandrum with my family in March. Our stay at Santa Maria was excellent and could not be faulted in any way. We were a large group with varying requests, all of which were accommodated without a complaint, by Bijoy and Aleena. We needed to check in very early in the morning and were very late arriving from the airport, yet our check in process ran very smoothly and we were assisted to our rooms by the lovely staff. During our stay we were helped with every one of our requests from ordering birthday cakes, having blouses stitched and were advised on the best areas to visit. If you have a trip to Trivandrum coming up, I would definitely recommend Santa Maria. The best way to describe our experience is a home away from home. The food is also a must try! We had the most authentic local dishes with the freshest seafood caught the morning of preparation.

On booking I arranged airport pickup directly with the hotel and everything went without a hitch. Upon arrival at the hotel around 20:30 Hours, the host arranged hot food even though dinner service had finished. The room was basic but comfortable with AC, fan, tea and coffee making facilities and an ensuite WC and wet room. Food (I had breakfast and dinner) had a home cooked feel, vegetarian, very tasty and cold beer was also available. The hotel is less than 100 meters from the seafront and a wonderful spot in which to relax and escape the hustle and bustle outside. I visited a large modern shopping mall located approximately 10 minutes drive from the hotel and the hosts happily arranged transportation, return trip including two hours waiting time cost me approximately EURO 7. The hosts were simply charming and could not do enough to make my stay a memorable experience for all the right reasons. At this point and not to be taken as any criticism whatsoever, I would like to highlight that if you are looking for a hotel with all mod cons, restaurants, pools and other facilities, etc., then this is not the hotel for you but if you are looking for a little oasis of tranquility, I am confident you will not be disappointed. Highly recommended.

After 18 hr flight needed to rest up before continuing our trip.|Liked the idea of beach front . |Really great attentive staff .|Well maintained gardens, view beach from upper rooms. Very short walk to public beach. |Homestay chef delivers outstanding buffet style Indian meals , you can request grilled fish prawns if desired. Also located short walk from a busy beach front group of restaurants like coffee house and others, ice cream shop is great. Family atmosphere and fun to visit at night. Hosts are attentive personable and serious about having a top quality accommodation . |The public beach in front can be littered and some of the surrounding buildings have suffered damage and cannot be rebuilt by state. They can make the location seem dicey but it is not. They will soon be removed and with no construction allowed Will benefit the location and views and beach access immensely.|We were both extremely delighted with our 3 day stay here . Booked again for our returning flights out.

What a gem! I lucked into a stay at Santa Maria in early February '25 from a Google search. Loved it so much I went back for another week at the end of my India trip. It's a little slice of paradise set beside the ocean, surrounded by coconut and banana trees. I'll be back!||Bijoy and Aleena, the husband and wife team that runs Santa Maria, are lovely and super helpful with arranging everything from fresh fish for dinner to train tickets to early morning rides to the nearby Trivandrum airport. And talented! Their home cooked dinners were so good I didn't bother eating elsewhere and the included breakfasts were equally good. Likewise, the staff regularly go the extra mile. Just stay here, you'll see what I mean.

Super nice hotel where I slept for 2 nights upon arrival.|The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood and is run by Biyou and his wife Elany.|I felt incredibly welcome. I had indicated a late arrival and they had taken that into account because there was still a delicious meal waiting for me.|They are very involved with their guests and nothing is too much. The room was super nice and clean and fully equipped.|What a great first impression of India. |We (the guests) were invited to come along to a prossession which was very impressive to experience, where Biyou and Elany guided us and explained what was happening. They also kept a close eye on us to make sure we were having fun and provided drinks.|On my return trip, I also booked 1 overnight stay. Again a warm welcome from Biyou and Elany, who were also very interested in how my trip had been. It felt like coming home

If you need a convenient airport stay out of the busy city. 10 minute taxi less than $5.00 USD. Bijoy and Allana are gracious hosts and the meals are prepared by talented chef! Quite near an active public beach( yet far enough to remain peaceful )with many other food options including a large Old Coffee House famous India chain restaurant. Amul ice cream parlor too and fun people watching around a real life India experience. Furnishings are sourced from old palace finds. We both loved staying here and would always return if we travel Trivandrum again. Thanks again to everyone for making an actually memorable stay at an airport stop over.

I had the privilege to spend 4 days in this beautiful place - it could not have been better! ||What did I particularly like? ||* The quality of all the home-cooked meals (I strongly recommend that guests do not just have breakfast but also their evening meals on site - no need to search further afield) -- the owner Mr Joseph is an excellent chef! ||* The beautiful setting: the garden, the trees, the flowers, the ponds||* The location, 5mn from the airport and yet so quiet, just in front of the sea - I could hear the waves from my bedroom (with antique furniture) ||* The overall design of the building, with the open reception and the outside staircase; it is actually very modern, with so many electric sockets, very powerful wifi signal and fantastic bathroom. ||* The overall hospitality of the owners - they have won several awards, most recently last month, which shows they are recognised for their professionalism and attention to customer service (no wonder that so many guests are 'return' guests). ||If you hesitate between this hotel and another one - don't hesitate any longer, you won't be disappointed!

This boutique stay is such a gem! The hosts have poured so much love and creativity into every detail. From antique doors and vintage windows to the cozy yet modern rooms, everything feels unique and special. The Kerala food is absolutely delicious, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere makes it feel like home. It's also in a great location, with beautiful beaches nearby. Perfect for families, or anyone looking for a relaxing, one-of-a-kind getaway. Highly recommend this!
