Truly in Midst of Nature , a Paradise indeed. Minor lack of amenities like closet , hanger hooks , fridge , tv etc forgotten due to gr8 location. Newly built cottage with traditional local design. Good size room & bathroom , sit-out. Simple but absolutely superb tasty food. You can request for specific dishes. Additional side dishes would do well. Food cooked & served by Owners' family at family house. Cottage right in front of river , 3 to 5 minute walk from beautiful beach... you can't ask more ! Extremely friendly attentive helpful Host. River boat tour for 2 lacked Safety jackets but was scenic with fish , jellyfish & bird sighting was an experience. All this reasonably priced too ! Definitely a MUST VISIT for Home Stay !

Beautiful location. Two lakes in the hotel vicinity. Very nice bird activity in the lakes. We were able to see three types of Kingfisher in and around the lakes. Food was excellent, particularly fresh seafood. Caretaker Mr. Krishna took great care of us and we were able to go for a boat ride in the morning with Mr. Shanmugam. Only issue we faced was mosquitoes during morning and evening time. We enjoyed two nights stay at this place very much.

Amazingly tranquil and beautiful place. We had such a relaxing time and throughly enjoyed the food provided during our stay. We also went out on the boat to see the backwaters and visit the fish market. Highly recommended!

We spent two nights at Riverlap Homestay and thoroughly enjoyed it. The property is idyllic - set between the backwaters and a vast, golden sand beach. It is surrounded by coconut trees and all sorts of amazing birds and you can't help but relax. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. They made us really delicious meals with fresh seafood caught close by. The room was nicely designed and very comfortable. I highly recommend staying here.

Gorgeous slow nature stay. We will come back just for the food, which was spectacular. Pristine beach, easy backwaters access, birds galore. Lovely stay.

We spent four nights here, could easily spend more - it's such a relaxing and tranquil experience. The cottage is beautifully constructed from wood and local stone and with windows on all sides, plus terraces front and back, is a place where you can easily while away many hours peacefully watching the birds feeding in the pond - right out the front. The show-stealers being the three species of kingfisher that we saw catching fish and sitting amongst the palms. The food is incredible - as vegetarians, we were treated to a diverse array of delicious, healthy and wholesome local veggie and fruit dishes with huge portions. We spent lots of time on the deserted beach (200m walk) and were also able to enjoy a sunrise boat trip on the backwaters with Shanmu - it was nice to see the river jellyfish and the tea and biscuits on the boat was a very nice touch. The family are very welcoming. We especially enjoyed chatting with Krishna about biodiversity, and visiting the local award-winning agriculturist scientist and conservationist Divakaran who is helping repopulate the depleted and vitally important mangrove habitats over the last 25 years. A very humbling experience. The area is beautiful and the locals are all very friendly - having a couple of bicycles available would have been even better to explore the local villages and waters by pedal power. All in all, a brilliant restorative stay.

Terrific location and bungalows with exceptional food (probably the best we had in a month in India). Vinod is a terrific host arranging and delivering us to Ayurvedic Dr and massage one day and taking us to ashram cave meditation, 2 temple poojas and a Theyyam the next. Shanmu is an excellent cook and backwater canoe pilot. River view on one side, ponds in the middle and 3 min walk to gorgeous deserted beach for 29' water swims and beautiful sunsets. Wild foxes and peacocks added to the natural surroundings.
