Neeleshwar Hermitage

From the very warm welcome to the final goodbye this was a place that will hold magic memories for us forever and a yearn to be back there. We stayed in Villa Prema (love) with its own plunge pool. Comfortable super king bed, cooling linens and soft plus medium pillows resulted in very good sleep, the room was pretty soundproof so we weren't even disturbed from the cacophony that is the dawn chorus, so loud Merlin failed to cope! Both restaurants were good, not a vast menu, but we enjoyed six days of fish and seafood. We only had the lunch beach restaurant twice, but the selections were very good and everything presented well, very well cooked and delicious. The grounds are spectacular, natural and well cared for, the infinity main pool is huge, lovely temperature with easy access. We took the village tour which was very interesting, escorted by the general manager we toured community gardens, learning about the different produce, we visited the temple which was busily preparing for a festival and spent time with the friendly villagers all gather ( about 50) preparing the feast, it was also incredible to watch the coconut climbers and hear about the production of hooch, which we tried before the fermentation stage. The multi skilled coconut tree climber then took us for a paddle along the shore line. Sadly the schools had closed for the summer so no school visit but all the children we met were friendly and very keen to practice their English. I had the best full head and body massage of my life in the spa. The in-house tailor was excellent , extremely well made and fast service. This place was absolutely stunning. The location on the edge of the Arabian sea was beautiful, peaceful and unspoilt. The rooms were large, comfortable and well equipped. The whole complex was very well tended and the staff could not do enough for us.||The infinity pool was lovely and we spent hours just chilling on the comfy loungers. There were two restaurants and we sampled both, and both were fabulous. There were lots of lovely touches, turn down service at night, mosquito fumigation at sunset, a lovely good bye message on the plate on our last breakfast, a seemingly endless supply of towels, an organised outing to a local temple, and so much more. ||After several weeks of touring southern India, this place was a lovely relaxing tonic. We were sad to leave.

Just coming back from my visit to this beautiful place and I want to go back soon. What a beautiful property located near a secluded beach. The property is well maintained and clean and the rooms are big and gorgeous. The best part about this property is the staff. Each one of them has a smile on their face and are always ready to help. The staff was so kind to accommodate our special request. The food is delicious. It's not very oily or spicy and perfect. My parents absolutely loved their stay and I believe anyone looking to stay around the area should consider a visit here. Only downside is that it's expensive but you get your money worth with the wonderful hospitality and beautiful sunsets by the beach.

I cannot recommend this resort highly enough. A quiet, peaceful retreat that offers five star service. All the staff are absolutley superb; it's a very friendly atmosphere. We have stayed here twice already and will absolutley be back time and time again. Thank you Altaf and the team

There's not enough positive words to describe our short but wonderful stay - from the food to the rooms, everything was more than perfect. I've previously stayed in Taj Bekal but this is on par if not better because of how intimate the hotel is and how attentive the staff are. The manager (Jeese P) and his team went above and beyond to make our short stay fantastic (and even cleaned our auto rickshaw we travelled in). Thanks again!

||A lovely retreat in the North of Kerala and a welcoming centre of tranquillity.|Our five night stay at the Hermitage was delightful. The location right on the beach looking across the Malabar coast allows a soft breeze to cool you down from the heat of the day along with spectacular sunsets. The food is delicious from breakfast, to lovely lunchtime salads to Keralan fish curry for dinner are all fabulous. They are made from locally sourced ingredients, and a variety of choices are available all prepared to order. A wonderful stay by the sea at this peaceful resort in Neeleshwar! The staff were incredibly helpful, especially with arranging information about local kayaks and houseboat trips. The beach was clean, quiet, and absolutely stunning, with warm, clear water perfect for swimming, and an incredible swimming pool. Highly recommended for a relaxing and scenic coastal escape.

We stayed 3 nights at Neeleshwar Hermitage plus another 2 nights on their houseboat (see separate review of Lotus Houseboat). Both stays were fantastic. The Hermitage is set amongst coconut trees on the deserted Ozhinhavalappu Beach. It provides superb accommodation, a fabulous infinity pool, brilliant service, yoga classes, a warm sea to play in and a free consultation with an Ayurvedic doctor. There is a choice of two restaurants. We opted to have all our meals at the beachfront seafood restaurant overlooking the Arabian Sea. The food was exceptional, especially the daily Keralan special made from the local fishermen's catch of the day.
