We had visited Poothali in April with family to experience the Theyyam performances held in Nileshwar and let me tell you, staying at Poothali is not just an experience in having a great place to stay, it's a fantastic experience in hospitality done right! The food prepared is exquisite and is made with a lot of care and passion. The events are curated to make sure you receive the best, and most authentic experience for Theyyam along with great explanations by our guide who is very knowledgeable about the art and the artists. Every aspect of your stay is handled with care and consideration making you truly feel like an honoured guest

Our experience staying for a week in this beautiful property managed by hosts like Sunitha and team who are kind and caring will always be cherished. Delicious food , great balcony view with the call of the birds was a delight . All questions pre and during the trip were meticulously answered by Manoj . The experiences were well curated without being rushed . We definitely recommend the homestay to those wanting a break from their busy lives . It's a calming retreat . A home away from home .

Had a beautiful experience at Poothali. The hosts Manoj, Sunitha, and their kids took wonderful care of us. The food cooked by Sunitha and team was delicious. The place is located close to a beautiful and secluded beach. Manoj also arranged for a sunset river cruise, which was the highlight of our trip. If you are looking to getaway with family or friends, this place is ideal.

Wonderful Stay at Poothali Homestay- A Heartwarming Experience!||I had an absolutely delightful stay at Poothali in northern Kerala. The place is beautifully designed, with great attention to details. You can see the thought and care in every element - from the handcrafted cotton towels and locally made artisanal soaps to the unique wooden furniture that adds to the charm of the space.||The hospitality was exceptional - Sunitha and her lovely family welcomed me with warmth and kindness, making me feel at home from the moment I arrived. They even asked me to join them for a local festival in the village, which was a great experience!||Through Poothali, I also took several fascinating tours in the area, including visits to temples where the Theyyam rituals were taking place and to local artisans showcasing their incredible craftsmanship. The storytellers were amazing, every experience was deeply enriching, well-organized and so much fun. ||The food was absolutely delicious, and every meal was prepared with love and authenticity.||But more than anything, what truly stood out was the heart and warmth of the entire team. A huge thank you, Manoj and to every single wonderful person at Poothali who made my stay so special.||I wholeheartedly recommend Poothali - it's a fantastic place, and I would definitely return here!

Poothali takes you back on a nostalgic ride to your ancestral homes in the rural parts of Kerala. Tucked away in a quaint village, overlooking greenery and away from the chaos of city life, Poothali embodies slow living in tune with nature. It is a 3-bedroom property with very aesthetically done interiors. The rooms are comfortable with air conditioning and cupboards. They even provided locally made soaps and cotton towels - a stark contrast to the commercial toiletries usually provided by homestays. The living cum dining space is essentially the soul of Poothali. Situated on the first floor, this is an open space with red oxide flooring with a few tasteful vintage wooden furniture. One can just relax here, enjoying the gentle breeze and occasional chirping of birds. Regardless of which time of the day one chooses to be in this space, it is cool and calm. The tiled roofing renders a rustic touch alongside keeping the ambient temperature cool and comfortable. A noteworthy mention to Sunitha, the caretaker and cook who prepared delicious local fare for us. The menu included authentic Malayali dishes - simple yet exceptionally delectable. All meals were fulfilling to the heart and soul and Sunitha amazed us with the flavour and variety of the dishes she served. She even enquired about our preferences before every meal. Poothali is not merely a homestay, it was an experience in itself. What stood out for us was the warmth and care that was taken in every aspect of the place - be it the cotton hand towels, or the terracotta plates with Theyyam faces painted on it, or the coolness from the red oxide flooring, or the little jars of snacks kept for guests' consumption- everything spoke about a conscious and well thought out decision to amplify the experience. Will definitely recommend Poothali!!

A paddy view homestay tucked in a sleepy quaint village where lush green landscapes create an unforgettable relaxing escape The place is beautifully and sustainably designed, with great attention to details. But what stands out is the warmth and kindness of the people (not only at Poothali but around the village). There is so much to do - Watch Theyyam performances, houseboat experience, quaint beaches, ayurvedic Spa, various village visits or you can decide to do nothing and relax. This place is truly a home away from home If you love authentic experiences while travelling, do save this for your North kerala trip

Stayed 2 nights here and was one of my most memorable stays. Right from the decor, old style furnitures, neatness, pretty much everything was class and beauty and takes you a few decades back. Sunita and Shashi are awesome hosts. Sunita made excellent food for us, very amiable, friendly. The beach/temple is just a 10 minute walk from here and makes for an excellent weekend getaway. Highly recommend.
