Ashtamudi Villas

This is a really nice resort. Sitting on your rooms porch you can spot a lot of wildlife (otters, brahminy kites) in the garden and on the lake. The rooms are simple but clean and have everything you need. The staff is great, helping out with arranging tours and proactively suggesting activities such as a visit to a temple festival. It's not centrally located, so for most things you will need to (or ask the wonderful staff) arrange transportation. Wonderful place.

I recently stayed at Ashtamudi Villas for a weekend getaway and was extremely disappointed by my experience. First of all The way to the resort was a narrow, winding road that was barely wide enough for two cars to pass. It was a stressful drive, and we nearly got stuck a few times. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that the resort is not living up to its reputation. Upon check-in, the front desk staff was unhelpful and disorganized. The room was far below expectations. The furniture looked old and worn out, and there were visible dust and debris on the floor. It was evident that housekeeping had not done a thorough job and several lights in common areas were burned out. The dining options were limited. The food was bland, and the service was incredibly slow. We had to wait over an hour for our meals, and when they arrived, they were cold and poorly prepared. Overall, this resort was a huge letdown, and the caretaker's lack of professionalism only made things worse. I highly advise against staying here. There are much better resorts out there that offer decent service and a comfortable experience. I will not be coming back.

The four days at Ashtamudi Villas were extremely relaxing, unique and I wouldn't have wanted to miss them. The staff are highly professional, courteous and helpful. Joseph, the friendly boss, fulfills all wishes and takes excellent care of the guests. The surroundings are dreamlike and clean, here you can linger and come to rest in all the Indian hustle and bustle.

Fraudulent. It deserves only negative reviews. The rude attitude of Prathab Joseph, which is another name for him, is deceitful. They are merely using outdated photos to entice us into booking the room. The road leading to this terrible location is quite narrow. If you have a car, it's best not to reserve here. After much struggle, we managed to reach the site by car. While we were transporting our luggage, he abruptly came over and rudely told us to move the car because he needed to park his. After that, they assigned us a room after 30 minutes, and water began leaking from the AC, flowing right where I had placed my phone for charging.It damaged my phone. When I asked him about this, he responded in a very sluggish manner. He spoke as if he were completely intoxicated. He didn't treat the customer with any respect. We hardly spent an hour there. He said AC technician will come to repair.after one hour I asked when will the technician comehe simply replied, today is sunday so its doubt ful.When I requested another room, he offered me a much smaller one. I paid 4500 for a room, but it certainly isn't worth that price. He didn't even refund the 2000 advance I paid.Before booking I confirmed with him for extra beds but once after we reach there with children he said its unavailable . Don't waste your valuable money by booking in ashtamudi villa if you want to have a peaceful vacation.

Really great stay in a lovely room by the lake.. Joseph is a great host and even took a group of us to see a festival in a nearby town which was great to see.. He then opened a ripe Jackfruit that was growing on his property and we all had a taste..

All staff are courteous and helpful. Very relaxing atmosphere. We were taken to two local festivals Unforgettable experience !!! Joseph makes sure you have a good time. Will return

The owner of the resort, Joseph, was incredibly generous with his time. As he knew I was a photographer and was keen on capturing local Keralan life and the surroundings, he proactively offered to take me around town on his scooter as he went and ran a few errands for the resort. This included going out of his way to show me the local fish market and other sights. This gave me such an authentic and local experience I otherwise wouldn't have been able to get. The resort itself is an oasis of peace and calm sat right by a Kollam backwater channel. It was a massive breath of fresh air for me having just arrived from Mumbai. The lunch that was prepared for me was also very delicious and one of the best meals I had in Kerala (spiced fried fish, fish curry, Keralan rice and spiced crab meat - all so fresh). Overall, you're treated like one of their own.

Our stay at AshtamudiVillas was incredible! The location is perfect, the staff went above and beyond to organise our activities for the whole duration of our stay including a visit to Munroe Island and even a bonus festival with elephants and dancing which happened to be on during our stay!! Highly recommend!
