During 2013 Easter holidays to Bangalore, India, we spent couple days at Neelambari resort. This was not in our original holiday itinerary until we called the resort, few hours before driving there! Recently, the management of this resort has been taken over by the prestigious Windflower group, a well known Resort group. The drive in the narrow roads in the hilly forest from Madikeri to the resort near Panathur village is an unforgettable experience, by itself.||The resort is situated in a vast 116 acres of rubber plantation which itself is in the middle of hilly Western Ghat forests. For us, from the wet and cold weather of UK, it was like 'dream come true', warm and pleasant sunshine all day long! Each villa is beautifully decorated, as per the local Kerala traditions, and well furnished. The bedding, towels and the toiletries provided were excellent in quality. The surrounding vegetation gives an impression of being in the middle of nature's beauty. Early in the morning we were woken up by the singing sounds of hundreds and hundreds of birds from the trees all around. One can spend the whole morning in the villa's sit-out, just appreciating the nature. The walking paths are well made and walking around the resort is a pleasurable experience. The swimming pool is nicely located.||The renovation work has just been completed. The spa and the Ayurvedic therapy were not available during our visit. Hence, I do not wish to make any comment in that respect. The restaurant served us local delicacies freshly prepared by the cooks through out the day. Grownups in our group enjoyed the cuisine. How ever, our kids who are used to the milder European diet, found the choice of food slightly lacking to suit their taste buds. (We were told that the main chef was off-work due to some reason and, if, our booking was made in advance, all our dietary requirements would have been looked after). Despite the absence of the chef, the food served was of excellent quality. The south- Indian style of breakfast was delicious. The resort managers informed me that with the chef working normally, they are capable of serving European breakfast of fruits and fruit juices, eggs, toasts etc,. ||The staff are extremely well behaved. The two managers, Umakanth and Vasu took all efforts to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The security manager, Umesh was ever helpful and versatile, guiding us for the local sight seeing drives. The resort provides free accommodation and food for the drivers hired by visitors for their journey to the resort. ||||During our stay, I made few recommendations with regard to improving the menu, making sure the swimming pool water safe with proper chlorination and arrangements for visitor to visit the local beach ( ~40 km away). All of my suggestions were gracefully accepted by the managers who wanted to learn more from our experience. ||||The resort as such does not serve alcoholic beverages as its not licensed to do so. But, visitors could carry their own. Coffee and tea making facility is available in the villas. The restaurant is not far away and served chilled soft drinks and food to our rooms on request, at no extra charge. There is no mini fridge in the villas.|||| With the provision of nice Spa facilities and improving the menu (to suit the western taste buds as well), Neelambari could become a favourite holiday destination to travellers who wish to spend their holidays in the middle of ever peaceful and beautiful nature, in "God's own country".||||Jav,||Leicester, UK||Visits during Monsoon period~(May to August) is better avoided unless one wishes to witness the heaviest rain fall!.

The Resort is situated nearby marthome reserve Forrest, So the atmosphere is calm and cold, plenty of fresh oxygen and greeneries in surrounded areas. Unique place in kasaragod district. but its not maintained or functioning properly, dirty pool, non economical prizes for room, no proper advertisement strategies, Looks like management is abandoned this biz.
