We stayed in Fenn Hall Homestay from Nov 28th Nght to Nov 30th morning. We were a family of 4. Our stay was comfortable. The owner was very cordial in discussions and the staff Shaija Madam was very helpful. She gave us hot water using Gas Stove when there was no current.

Quiet room at a nice location. Room is clean and well maintained.

Beautiful historical family home in the heart of Kottyam. The rooms and furniture is full of history and it was a pleasurable stay.

Absolutely loved it. It was raining when I came. Mathai Fenn, the owner of the place, had a friendly chat before passing on the key to my room that was the first down the stairs. Outside was all green and lovely, I saw this only the next day. There's a lovely little pond too. The room was so neatly maintained. I loved most the writing table at the corner. Made myself a coffee with the kettle there in the morning. Serene stay it was, and quite near the station.

Fenn Hall is a conveniently located place for those who want budget and basic accomodation. Its ideal for those on work or in transit at Kottayam. The 2 rooms given to us ( for 2 families - 3 adults and 3 kids) were large but ill equipped. There was not even a glass / bottle of water in the room or offered to us when we arrived from the station. We were shown the common water filter placed in the verandah outside the dining area next morning.There was an electric kettle kept outside the bathroom on the dresser with a few sachets of tea bags and milk powder along with the hand soaps.( !!) . So one is expected to fill water from the bathroom tap to make tea. The towels provided were unfresh, the shower in the bathroom was just a pipe without the shower head. So now you can get the picture that its not a well maintained property which you realise when you stay there. The owner who lives there kept saying the house is for you to use but never showed us around the house to gain access to any facility and is highly dependent (for any information or help) on the Manager who speaks only Malayalam and is around only for the working hours of her day. We booked based on the fantastic reviews of the place on the net but we were all greatly disappointed. So if you want an in-transit , inexpensive roof over your head for the night , then the location of the property is your major plus ....but be prepared to fend for yourself from your morning tea to mostly everything else.

Fenn Hall is very special to me because I am very close to the Fenn family but also because it is a beautiful old colonial home with a lot of character. It is perfect and has very positive vibes, much more vibrant than a hotel. I spent hours gazing over and into the lotus/lily pond with the tiny wish who always felt free to come tease if I put my feet in the water. From the vines on the white walls, the calming red stone in the flooring, the blooming flowers in the garden, to the green grass in the backyard, the outside seating area to the old furniture, everything is charming in its own way. The people who live in the House also constitute a big part of the overall atmosphere, and Mathai is one of the most intelligent sage like people I have ever met. Rajendran, the cook makes amazing food ( I think I gained 2 kilos in my 10 days there). I took some walks in Kottayam with Mathai and the temples that I came across were serene and calm. Its a magical place to be in. It is so close to the backwaters and Aleppy, and also Kumily and Thekaddy. Kerela is magical and beautiful and even if i try, I cannot put it in words! I visited Kochi, the bird sanctuary, Aleppy, the Backwaters, The Fenn rubber plantation in Varzoor, Thekaddy and Kumily. It was an amazing experience and I am sure I will visit again. We had a comfortable stay at FennHall for 3 weeks. very good location. restaurants, shops, markets nearby and for our purpose of visit it was a convenient location, nights were peaceful and noise free. good wifi, thanks to Mathai, Shyja and Anitha. suggestion, it would be good if you provide a small fridge in the room
