Johny Moose Backwater Farm

This is my second visit to Johny Moose Farm. The first time, I came for a paddleboarding session, and this time, it was for my school reunion. This place always brings a wave of nostalgia with its serene water, coconut trees lining the edge, and lush greenery-- classic Kerala vibes. It's spacious enough for a family or a group of friends to enjoy. Conveniently located not far from Kottayam town, the roads leading here are well-tarred and easy to navigate. The farm features a rustic room with a large bed, a kitchen, and clean toilets, making it ideal for small groups. They have a pair of geese and some hens and ducks that waffle around. I hear pets are not allowed.

It's a farm stay for people who would like to finish their novel under the sun or do lots of fish or boating by the huge lake in the campus. For me it's connecting with nature.

We were hosted by Jeffin who is Joshin's elder brother. He is a super host. Our stay was comfortable and we found Jeffin to be very reliable and responsive. This place has great views and nice country roads to explore by bicycle (which are available at this home stay). Our room was clean and spacious. The place felt extremely safe as well. Views from the room were just fabulous. Food prepared by his mother was delicious with generous portions and yet felt light on the stomach. Famous tourist places like Kumarakom and Alleppey are easily reachable from here. Jeffin helped with cab arrangements as well. Christ Cabs service which he recommended is awesome; very punctual and great driving. There are some ducks at the farm which added to the charm. The place offers some water sports which we could not do due to weather conditions but looked like a lot of fun! Overall, a nice, homely and comfortable stay. Highly recommended!

When you want to press 'pause' on your hectic life for a few days this is where you should come to. The sound of silence is only disturbed by the ducks, geese, leaping fish and birds song. If you are as lucky as us nature decided to put on a light and sound show with the longest thunderstorm I have witnessed in my life! The host is very helpful, informative and accommodating. We were treated to two breakfasts with traditional dishes and also were able to request our own dinners (at an additional cost and with plenty of notice). The meals were absolutely delicious but make sure to inform the histories if you are sensitive to spicy or hot food. I wish we could return to this farm soon.

This place was mesmerizing! Not just the place but the combined experience of the hosts, amazing home cooked food that their mom makes, so many activities like boating, kayaking etc.for the outdoorsy you, indoor board games, books...they have it all really. If you are looking for a place to chill, experience nature at its fullest and have peace, look no further. We stayed here for 2 days and had a lovely time!! Superb farm house for rent to enjoy a laid-back, party-day with friends and family. Its about 1km off the main road and located in front of a pond within the property. The waterbirds' clacking, quaking relaxes and sheds all the life tensions from your senses. A pier model sit-out is peefectly located to avoid the sun but get cooled off by fresh-smelling-all-day breeze. Our host was welcoming, helpful and always eager to aid us with out requirements. The room is a single long hall with a open-table-top kitchen and a washroom. The kitchen is equipped with all necessary appliances including fridge, induction stove, kettle, microwave, plates and cutleries. The only other appliance we wanted was a water-filter-dispenser. The washroom had towels and basic toileteries that are needed. Breakfast was serviced and it was good especially the caramellised banana split. RECOMMENDED!!

This place is a must visit. Calm, serene and beautiful. You wake up to full private lake view surrounded by nature! So green! There are multiple water activities available and you can even do fishing all day. The stay is simple but elegant and rustic. There are no private rooms and that's a good thing! Johny uncle was a super host and provided us home cooked food which was super delicious.

we wanted to be away from the regular din of alleppy and kumarakom and came across this wonderful place. our other objective was fishing so Jeffins' place provided all of that. we stayed in the villa room by the lake. its huge almost the size of an apartment having its own pantry and dining area. Dual air conditioning. Spotlessly clean. Jeffin has thought of everything. For food you could rely on Jeffins moms cooking else swiggy/zomato deliver to the room too. we went for a couple of hours to the kumarakom backwater shikara ride. other than that we were happy to stay put in this ideal location. we enjoyed our stay very much. thank you.
