Backwater Farmhouse

I spent four days here, and it was worth every penny. This serene location offers a peaceful escape from the crowds, while still being close to the heart of rural Kerala. Nestled between Kochi and Alleppey, the property is connected to the backwaters, making it a truly tranquil retreat. The highlight of my stay was the boat ride, complete with birdwatching and a visit to a nearby fishing village. Manu, our host, was exceptional, making the experience even more memorable.

I had such a relaxing getaway! The location was stunning, with the prettiest views of the backwaters. And the service - wow! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I can't wait to go back again someday.

The owner of this place Mr. Abi is one of the nicest humans I have met. Unassuming, helpful and very hospitable. Have high regards for him and his family. The crew is also very nice. Together, they create an amazing atmosphere at the farm house. Every place has its limitations but the owner and the property makes up for it with their attitude. The boatrides at the property and lunch/dinners at the deck is just gorgeous. Will definitely come again.

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay here. Manu and family are great hosts. The location of the property is perfect with great views. An absolute must is their boat trip. We were out from 4pm till dark. Binu the guide grew up here and is very knowledgeable. We spotted a lot of wildlife and learnt a lot about the area. A local bar selling beer and spirits is a 5 minute walk away. And a 10 minute walk to a village centre with several shops across the footbridge next to the railway line. White House bakery store is particularly good and ran by Justin and his lovely family who also offer delicious meals. The Tiger prawns were amazing!

Had a really great time here, booked this place from AirBnB and we were welcomed by Manu who was a good host. Loved the stay, view, food, boat ride (its a must), budget friendly. Only con i felt that it was bit in the inside but i guess if you want a calm and peaceful time, you will get it only in secluded places. If you want to just spend the time in that property, its good enough.

We found heaven at this peaceful, idyllic location nestled in simple, spacious and comfortable, waterside accommodation with caring, friendly, low-key management. This place is for folks who are interested in unpretentious but glorious natural surroundings and who can take care of their own entertainment doing simple things with nature. If you love boats, fish, birds, beach and ayurvedic treatments this is the spot for you. The food is home-cooked and excellent, delicious Kerala specialties, again all very simple but delicious rice, coconut, vegie and fish specialities with delicate spices and plenty of fresh, clean water, which in India you need to be confident about. Semi outdoor bathroom was charming but be brave about the occasional slug, don't be fussy, you are in paradise! It was very quiet at the farm with a variety of enchanting local music drifting across the waters from surrounding temples. Manager Ebbie was friendly, warm and helpful in every way with a casual, laid-back management style that we appreciated. The place seems to attract quietly centred individuals who are into nature and don't need western trappings, we unplugged totally and loved it. Plenty of time to drift down the canals with local boatmen or take a canoe and explore the unbelievably beautiful surroundings including Arabian Ocean beach not far away. Highly recommended. November weather seemed perfect, not too hot or rainy.

Additionally, guests can enjoy various activities such as boat rides, exploring Fort Kochi, and many other interesting attractions, making it a truly memorable experience.

We have spent 14 days in "Cherivally Backwater Farm House" resort, 23 kms South from Cochin , while we followed an ayurdeva treatment in Matt India. The place is idyllic, peaceful and absolutely relaxing. It is located in the very heart of the backwaters and it enjoys incredible views over the dammed waters that mirror thousands of palm tree and where hundreds of birds fly . Both dawns and sunsets are appaling with the light shifts reflecting on the water. From time to time engineless boats cross these waters, providing a completely idyllic image of the place. ||The resort consists of a series of bungalows, located on the banks of the channels and surrounded by a porch with some deckchairs that allow you to fully enjoy this beautiful environment . Bedrooms are big, simply but pleasantly furnished. The bathroom is also large and very comfortable, built roofless.The whole of it makes you feel in touch with nature. ||Meals are served in the open air, in a kind of dining room by the water . All the guests meet to eat together, which is very entertaining and enriching . Food is plentiful and excelent, carefully cooked by Kumar and Babu , who serve delicious courses from Kerala gastronomy. The family who runs the resort is really friendly and welcoming , always willing to solve any problem or emergency. Their children Abel and Emma cheer up everybody witth their lovely presence and company. ||This a marvellous place to rest, to follow ayurdeva treatment , make a boat trip accross the backwaters and spend some days in full touch with nature, far from the city's stressful life and daily problems. If are so lucky as to go back to Kerala, we will definitely accommodate in this wonderfun place. ||Finally, I would like to emphasize the excellent rate price/quality, as well as the devotedness of Eby and his wife to make the stay there unforgettable. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anybody who enjoys the contact with nature and who wishes to rest surrounded by beauty and by a charming family atmosphere.
