The property is an old bungalow in a stunning location right on the seashore, offering a beautiful view of harbour. The cottage we took was spacious, clean and beautifully presented. The staffs were kind and helpful, and they even prepared special meals for my toddler upon request, which we greatly appreciate. However, there are a few areas where improvements could enhance the overall experience. While the food was acceptable, it wasn't exceptional. Similarly the provided room facilities such as toiletries were adequate but not quite upto par. Addressing these minor points would elevate this property to a five star destination.

Meh.. dirty, dingy place. A heritage, historic property with great view but poorly maintained. Food was below average. The room was astonishingly bad. Everything smelt stale. A coat of dust covered everything. The room smelled like insecticide. Dead cockroach on the window sill. Dirty tablecloth, sheets. In the morning, there was no water in taps. They lugged in a bucket with water. It took two hours for the water in taps. Just pathetic. A beautiful building being run into ground by poor management. For the price you pay, zero value. There is an open air beer parlour downstairs, stick to that and avoid staying.
Chanced upon a small hotel on the Internet while searching for it on my kerala visit. The only point caught my eye was LIGHT HOUSE. The place has I think 12 rooms, a small bungalow converted to a hotel. It has a LIGHT House kind of structure that was used to guide ships in earlier days. The room I got was sea facing entrance and a big room of colonial style era. The welcome drink in the sweltering Kerala heat was a boon. On entering the room, we were greeted with swans made of our room towels. pleasing gesture to welcome you in the room. The room was quite big as compared to normal, which is a colonial past reminder. Neatly furnished. The bathroom fittings were old but I have seen the renovated bathrooms on 1st floor and it was a good upgrade as and when it happens(I am told all of it will take a month as the work is in process) We had a quiet dinner as we had reached late, is what I thought. Bit it's sort off off season due to summer season and there were only 3 rooms booked and so less crowd or NO crowd in the restaurant. The kadhai paneer was good and recommended Honey Chilli potatoes were great. My mom enjoyed the Sundown mocktail. The next morning was event full as mummy wanted to swim in the sea. so we walked to the M G Beach just next to Old LIGHT House Bristow. I was pleasantly surprised as it was a very clean beach with almost only two of us and 2-3 fishermen casting their nets. From there, we headed back to the hotel and had a dip in the pool. The OLHB provides separate sets of towels for the pool. The pool is surrounded by a lot of trees and so gives a jungle like feeling ;-). We finished the pool and had a bath and headed for breakfast. WE WERE LATE FOR BREAKFAST (10.30AM) But they were linient with us, and we had a breakfast of Dossa and chutti as well as Uttapa, cut fruits, and a glass of milk. All A La Carte. The front desk manager, "Nevin," recommended us with massage at a nearby Spa, and it was an experience to be had. Got a relaxing massage. As usual we were late for checkout but here again Nevin allowed a late check out at 2pm as a good will gesture. The team of Nevin, Amy and Gina really took good care of us at the OLD LIGHT HOUSE BRISTOW.
Lovely atmosphere and great sea breeze! The service was excellent--Tony was friendly, and made sure we had a great time. Perfect spot to unwind in Fort Kochi. Highly recommend.
We had a wonderful stay here last year, and this year we returned for lunch to enjoy the beautiful scenic views and delicious food once again. Aswani took care of us during our visit and made us feel right at home with warm and attentive service.
Fantastic location. The staff is exceptional led by the amiable and efficient Amy Thomas and ably supported by Rijesh, Vishnu Priya and Gina. For our family of 6 with members ranging from 9 years to 72. Each one had a great time. The pool is clean and efficient. The food is great. Do ask for the local mango curry with appams. For my mom who has travelled the world and lived in best of hotels across (she is 72) said that this is the best place she has ever lived in. |.
Tony was our server His suggestion of fish platter was great, incredibly tasty and fresh. Great experience, good breeze sitting outside with nice views.
Old vintage residence very well located along the sea but looking a bit abandoned. The place is surrounded by some old barbed wire and a metallic fence. The hotel is lacking of maintenance and would deserve some minor improvements and small investment that would make the place a must and would justify the price .|For example: fixing the electricity plugs on the room (half of them were not working), cleaning the windows of the bedrooms, replacing the grass and the clay floor of the garden with some stone or any type of pavement which would avoid the dust everywhere, replacing the old KingFisher sunshades of the pool, full of bird poops by some nice sunshades (without any beer brand's name), replacing also the rusty sunbeds of the pool, who would immediately give another global effect, etc...).
