Oval Retreat Palace

The hotel can be a little hard to get to, although it's just off NH47, because the access route is complicated. We didn't have a problem after the first day, however, and uber drivers were able to find the place easily. |The location is lovely because of the view of the canal, and the room was large, clean and comfy. The staff too were friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were clean, if a bit dark. The AC worked perfectly. Breakfast was outstanding! |For a budget hotel, this place was excellent value for money.

I stayed there for two nights. I reached Kochi at midnight. I called the manager Aneesh at that houu. He gave direction to the cabdriver. I checked in at 1 am and greeted by ever smiling Pradeep. And checked out at 1 am two days after by a car arranged by them. The room was very good with a wide balcony overlooking the river. The room was non A/C. Actually I had to put off the fan and enjoyed the breeze at night. The elevator was not working. I didn't mind climbing. The architecture of the building is interesting enough. Breakfast was putty and bhaji but quite tasty. On my next business tour i will surely come back here.

Location: The location in itself is good however access to the location is not very commute friendly. Restaurants are not available in nearby location. No general stores. No public transport is easily accessible. ||Rooms: rooms are decent but we had to change thrice in the stay of 3 days. Reason: sometime rooms were damp or sheet had not been properly filled||Washroom: Manageble but nothing too great||Food and restaurant: Not available kitchen is there but not hygienic. Avoid eating there||Hotel staff: Very friendly and cooperative||Bonus: although the hotel does not have a swimming pool but there is a swimming pool on a payment basis in the same premises.

I booked the hotel through goibibo and it was a very comfortable stay, though not up to the expectations but at par with price charged.Rooms were good Staff here were also ready for service anytime. No bad experience. Also I think it's bit out of the city so book here only if you have your own car.

1. remote location. access to this place is tough unless known cab driver.||2. getting out is tough as there are no transport. nearest place NH47 highway bus station 10 minutes walk.||3. staff only one and the owners.||4. complimentary breakfast provided becos it is included better dont try it.||5. rooms are old unmaintained and the locks door latches are all in broen state.||6. if no electricity , no generator or inverter.||7. hot water is from solar heated and never heats up.||but location is in front of backwater lagoon transport place very good.

Good budget hotel. Friendly behaving staffs. Good food. Nice place to stay away from busy city rush. Lake side. Calm and quiet atmosphere. Wrong location shown, its actually near to Thykoodam over bride (NH-47).

Had plan to visit cochin for one day official meeting, ||booked room here via online based on the reviews||but things there was totally different...||Have booked AC room with Breakfast complementary||after check in room ||||CONS ||||1. AC was not working at all - to report the same to reception / room service - phone kept in room is not working||on calling manager mobile and reporting the same, getting reply from manager that AC is only from 6 PM- 6 AM , apart from that if AC required we need to pay 400 extra??? something new rule which is not mentioned any where.||2. like some 3 plug points available in room - one was already connected to TV||remaining two were not working - we cant plug in anything it was in that condition ||on reporting - manager came with a small stick kind of to dig holes of plug point and pin the charger - was funny ||3. TV / TV remote was not working ||4. Breakfast provided - 4 idlies sambar and TEA - Horrible to taste ||(Complementary breakfast)||5.Room was not clean at all||||pros :||1.Location where room is located - behind we have canal bank ||location and view from room is best ||||Over all i had worst every experience here.. ||will never recommend / think about this place on next trip,

The staffs at the hotel were not supportive, the pictures shown in the website is fake, when we pay for a room of our choice, we would expect the hotel authorities to provide them especially when we are with our family. The staff was behaving oddly and advised me there is no such rooms available.
