Talayar Valley Bungalow

We had such an incredible experience staying at the Talayar Bungalow for 3 nights. The property is beautiful and well preserved, they truly live up to their tagline - Come, time travel. The view from our cottage was breathtaking at all times. The rooms and common areas are very mindfully decorated. The sprawling garden with numerous flowers and trees is enough to capture the senses. ||The staff is exceptionally knowledgeable and warm. A special note of thanks to Jiyesh Joseph, who helped us plan and navigate our time at the bungalow. We would also like to thank Chefs Prabhu and Vishal, who are not just exceptional at their job but were kind enough to accommodate our requests. All the service staff members and the security personnel were very courteous and friendly.

A truly immersive experience of staying in a bygone era of a wonderful British colonial tea garden bungalow. Led by an efficient team of Jiyesh and John who are focused on warm service and guest comfort, the others like Nimai, Rakesh, the lead chef Prabhu and the old watchman Jayakumar will do everything to make sure you have a lovely safe time in this idyllic paradise in the Western Ghats an hour away from the more commercialized Munnar. Ultra spacious rooms, bathrooms and lounges, all modern comforts and a fresh homely menu round up a wonderful time here. If you're lucky, you'll get to see wildlife in and around the place (I got to see a stunning peacock in the bungalow's garden). When you're here, make sure you do nothing other than savour the place, spend some quiet time by yourself reading, listen to the birds and the wind rustling through the trees, relish copious amounts of garden fresh tea and have breakfast out in the garden with the backdrop of the magnificent Umayamalai (second highest peak in the region just a shade below the more famous Anaimudi). Things that could be better are the etiquette of the serving staff who could be told to have a warm smile on their faces and be a bit less obtrusive in the way they knock on the door, and the food taste and feel which could feel a bit bland and routine at times.

We stayed here for two days with family. This place as expected is absolutely beautiful, the rooms are great, cozy. The food is just so yummy, a special thanks to cook who makes everything so tasty. Also the Jiyesh the manager is a very cordial, courteous and always available. The views all around is breathtaking and I cannot wait to to visit it again.

We booked the whole bungalow for ourselves . But they overbooked it with foreign visitors and used the place as rest room and lunch spot for foreigners. We had to wait for lunch for an hour and provided lunch at 02.30 pm only. If people who are looking for a private bungalow please don't book this place. Your privacy wont be there. Family and friends in groups looking for an entire place for themselves, stay away from here. Location is good Food is good. We as friends meet only once a year. Reach from different places of country But they spoiled our whole experience, hence the one star.

This is at the Thalayar Tea Estate main bungalow. It used to be the Manager's Bungalow, but now it is let out to tourists. It is a beautiful place with a commanding view of the tea estates lying sprawled around, below the building.

Fantastic location with a great view. Good service by the team - Chefs Prabhu and Siva and the Manager John were very helpful and responsive. Also the other staff were well behaved and courteous . Thank you for making it a memorable stay with our family.||The property is located uphill and surrounded by lust green tea plantations. The bungalow is Victorian style and very calm and make us feel close to nature surrounded by mountains.The food was excellent and the best part of the stay apart from the fabulous views.||The manager John took us through trekking across the tea estate to watch the beautiful view points. We had a visit to their tea factory and he explained the process and also we explored the private waterfall and had a wonderful time.

We stayed in Talayar Valley Bungalow between May 21 and 24, 2024. The bungalow is on a small hillock in the valley amidst tea gardens and surrounded by huge mountains on all sides. ||The stay was great, and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. The ambience, facilities and service were exceptional. It gives you the experience of a European setting. The way we were taken care by the team further enhanced our experience. ||The fun of playing Chess and carom with family members, relaxing in the lawn and the garden in the evening with tea and snacks being served was an amazing experience. A few more indoor games for kids and the grown up would be helpful especially when it is raining and going out is not feasible. ||The walk along the tea garden and the trek to the tea factory were wonderful experiences. John, in-charge for the facility, walking with us and narrating the background of the estate, and how tea was brought to India was really an enriching experience. John was really courteous, kind and empathetic. ||Prabu and Siva (Chefs) ensured that we had delicious food.||Raj, Mothi, Rajiv, Deepak and Deep provided us with whatever we wanted, and stood by the dining table serving food for us with love and affection. ||It is a very safe place (we stayed there with two grown up daughters staying in a separate suite).||Our stay refreshed and energised us to face things that were waiting for us at our home and workplace. We had a memorable experience!

We stayed at this property for 3 nights in the magnolia suite. The property had an old world charm and was away from crowded Munnar. The furniture and furnishings are due for some renovation though. ||The views from the property and the walks just outside were fantastic! || The hospitality extended to us by the staff was great. From Vaishali at the booking desk to Jayesh the manager, John at the property and the cook Prabhu. They were all very polite and friendly and accommodated all our requests with a smile. The food was great. ||This is a great place if you want a break from the city and want some calm and quiet close to nature!
