Vilayara Heritage Retreat

Booked the Vilayara Heritage Retreat made out from an old Nair tharavaadu at Eravannur, Kozhikode for nephew's marriage function. It is one of the best Heritages in the district, assures a great room experience with modern facilities, calm and quite atmosphere. Located around the green plantations, Kalarippura, pond for fishes offers you a good view. The staff ensures the guest requirements are timely and are at par, a decent experience over all in terms of every department. Highly recommend to family/ Group of friends.

The home - Perfectly furnished with modern facilities while retaining the heritage and culture. The walls adorned with the family pictures speak to us about an era gone by. Every corner of the home seems to have a story to tell. One only has to dwell on those moments. The caretaker - Krishnankutty keeps the premises welcoming and is totally supportive and friendly. Surya - the office assistant, with the right balance of professionalism and hospitality, makes the stay a pleasant experience. The food - warm and homely. Simple, authentic and tasty food, served neatly with a lot of care. The location and surroundings - a dream get-away from hectic city life. An experience of soothing calm in a home that speaks of a lively and flourishing past. Waking up to chirping birds, and the splatter of rains. There definitely is a lot of nostalgia.

Recently ,my colleague and I had the chance to stay for two days at a rustic old world nair tharavad in Kozhikode,Kerala. As a part of a conference organised at NIT ,Calicut we were in Calicut/ Kozhikode for 2 full days. This tharavad known as Vilayara is a heritage homestay run by Mr Unnikrishnan.Away from the hustle and bustle of the city life,we had a peaceful time surrounded by natural beauty,peace and calm.The hospitality met out by his staff added to the wonderful ambience.Exactly old worldish.

One of the best place to stay, calm and peaceful place. Old traditional home stay with reasonable rate.
