Pros: Great location near Evada Cliff Peaceful and pleasant surroundings Good spot for a relaxing stay Cons: Rooms were not clean Toilet flush needed manual adjustment every time No light in the bathroom Receptionist did not respond properly even after informing issues No lift (we had to walk 3 floors) - not suitable for elderly, and not informed in advance Overall Opinion: We stayed mainly for the location and peaceful vibe. With better room maintenance and more responsive service, this could be a great resort. Hope the management improves things soon.

The resort offers a wonderful stay right in the cliff of varkala. The best part is it is somewhat remote from the city and was quite calm and crowdless. You can enjoy the beach also nearby through stairs. It has both sea view and garden view rooms. They offer rental scooters also which is also affordable. The only drawback I faced is the swimming pool was not Maintained at all. The lunch was good but not satisfied with the breakfast. Would prescribe to take breakfast outside.
Ashokam Resort was a truly refreshing and remarkable experience, a serene retreat, which was like a breath of fresh air after a dainty day, where we celebrated our second Batch Day. Their magnificent view enhanced the overall ambience and charm of the neatly maintained and elegantly adorned resort. The lush greenery and vast scenery, however, came second to the pool experience we had. The pool party here was one of the most exhilarating and enjoyable experiences. All of these services at a reasonable cost, along with the friendly staff. Simply lovely. Would totally recommend it.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Ashokam Resort, and it was an unforgettable experience! Nestled on a stunning seaside cliff, the views are absolutely breathtaking, offering a perfect backdrop for relaxation and rejuvenation. The accommodations were top-notch, featuring spacious and well-appointed rooms with modern amenities. Every morning, I woke up to the sound of waves crashing and the fresh scent of the ocean--pure bliss! The resort staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to assist and make my stay as comfortable as possible. The on-site dining options were delightful, with a variety of delicious local dishes that showcased the region's flavors. I especially enjoyed the infinity pool overlooking the sea; it was the perfect spot to unwind while soaking up the sun. Additionally, the resort offered various activities, from beach explorations to guided tours, making it easy to soak up the natural beauty of the area. Overall, Ashokam Resort is a true gem for anyone seeking a serene seaside getaway. I highly recommend it to couples, families, or solo travelers looking to escape and recharge. I can't wait to return!
If you're looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay in Varkala, Ashokam Resort is not the place to be. Unfortunately, this property feels more like a 1-star hotel in a Tier-1 city than a proper resort. Restaurant Services: The restaurant is painfully slow. Even for a simple cup of tea, you'll wait for an hour. For lunch or dinner, you need to order at least two hours in advance, which is highly inconvenient. Housekeeping and Rules: Housekeeping is only available if you purchase a package, and they charge extra even for basic tasks like cleaning the dustbin. The property is riddled with unnecessary rules--no shoes or slippers inside the room, no drying clothes in the balcony despite being near the beach, and for that, they expect you to take a paid laundry service. Staff and Service: The staff is unresponsive and rude. They seem more interested in enforcing arbitrary rules than providing good service. Amenities The pool is off-limits after 8 PM, which is disappointing for those looking to enjoy an evening swim. Overall, the service is subpar, the staff is unprofessional, and the rules make the stay more stressful than relaxing. Definitely not worth the money or the experience. Would not recommend it to anyone.
The surroundings of Ashokam Resort are truly beautiful, making it a great offbeat stay away from the crowded cliff. The resort offers a stunning ocean view, a hidden sunset viewpoint right in front, and a beach nearby, which adds to its charm. However, the resort itself is poorly managed. While the property has great potential, the rooms were not cleaned properly--there were blood stains on the bedsheets, and we had to request basic amenities like towels. They even used towels as floor mats outside the room and bathroom. The bathroom was also not well-maintained or cleaned, which was disappointing. We booked a garden-view room, but the lack of cleanliness and maintenance really affected our experience. Additionally, finding the resort was challenging as the Google Maps route was incorrect, leading us in the wrong direction. If you're looking for a peaceful and scenic location, this place has that, but the resort's management and hygiene need serious improvement. Wouldn't recommend it unless they address these issues.
Rooms and service was average. It could have been better maintained. Pool was good. Location is right beside the cliff with access to the beach which is a pro. They had buffet breakfast with good options, taste was good. The in house restaurant cafe concerto served good food.
Before posting this, I was curious why it had lesser average ratings and had a look at all the negative reviews. Negative reviews which I see are regarding room maintenance, swimming pool issues and absence of lift. As on 10 April 2025, lift is up and running, so no problems there now. Pool- fixed, had water and daily cleaning was on. Another aspect was infra issues in room- I didn't experience any of those issues mentioned, maybe the staff and management worked on it and fixed it, so I didn't experience these. Obviously I can't vouch that no one will ever experience the maintanence issues, hence do check the room on all aspects before checking in, if all good, this is should be one of the best stays in Varkala. Great views of the sea, it's located on the cliff, which is extremely untouched as of today, coz it's a dead end. Only people staying at the resort visit this cliff usually. Rooms are well equipped, spacious and clean. Staff is helpful and they provide room service as well. There's a restaurant as well attached to the hotel, even the restaurant provides room service.
