New Allen's Cottage

I visited Munnar with a group of friends and booked two bedrooms in Allens cottage after hearing about it through a friend. We didnt know what to expect, as only one of our friends had stayed there. We decided to take a chance, and it paid off! The location of the cottages is absolutely delightful. It is set in the middle of the hillside, in the surroundings of Letchmi tea estate. There is no other property in the immediate surroundings, and it feels great to be completely by yourself, in that tranquil surrounding. The rooms are basic, tv equipped, clean linen, spacious clean bathrooms - all well maintained. There is a kitchen adjacent to the rooms, and you could choose to cook if u wished. Or else there is a couple who will cook dinner and breakfast. Homely delicious food is served piping hot. The caretaker will also arrange for sightseeing if you wish and suggest offbeat places.||||Location: You need to take a deviation to the left before entering Munnar and continue for 12km. The owner will give you directions on the phone, and the caretaker of the cottage will direct you when you get there. Word of caution: Only BSNL has intermittent network once u reach the cottage and that also no GPRS. No other networks work (Was a big plus for me!). Other networks work when you are around 3km away from the cottage.||||If you are looking for a nice quiet getaway from city life, wish to get some alone time with family or small group of friends, I would certainly recommend this place!

Its about 40 minutes drive from Munnar town. Great tea estate and field view while on the drive. We booked the whole cottage. The cottage is surrounded on all sides by forest. There is a good lookout point too. Great view. There is one other building near the area. Other than that it is a pure escape. No cellphone coverage. They have a landline and decent wifi. So you will get whatsapp and other online services. The food is standard Kerala cuisine. The chicken curry was great ! They started a campfire for us and make sure it was lit till 3 AM while we gave tips. We could play loud music till around 10:30 PM after that they asked us to lower the volume, but we went on till around 3 AM with moderate volume. Couple friendly. Breakfast was also standard, Kerala egg curry and Appam.

This is a little known cottage located in the midst of a tea estate, on a hillside. To reach here, you need to take a left turn before Munnar town and drive around 30-40min. Having the caretaker's number handy is better since you are likely to miss the place if you are fist time visitor. ||||The cottage is right in the lap of nature with no disturbances in the immediate surroundings. If you crave peace and quiet, this is the right place. The caretaker couple are very accomodating and friendly and will cook whatever possible dishes you ask for, with the available resources. You can always drive into munnar if you wish to eat out or for any other activities. ||||Good for a romantic getaway with your partner, or for a quiet trip with friends as well. Would definitely visit again.

The peaceful location. The cottages are comfortable and warm. Loved every minute. Thank you very much for a lovely stay. We enjoyed the cottage and found all its facilities excellent. We were on a family trip and wanted a nice stay. The hotel is a 40 mins drive but its all worth. It is surrounded by tea plantations and has a very beautiful view. The service is also good and the staff is also helpful.

Allens Cottage - We got a good experience. The service was good. Its not a class hotel. But still a perfect stay to family. The food was delicious. They provide campfire also. The morning was misty which a refreshing mind. Thanks to Allens

i went to this property with my family we had 3 bedrooms booked.. No car or Tempo traveler can reach there.The rooms don't have attached bathrooms in it ,the food was disgusting .It just ruined||my munnar visit
