Chekkal Homestay

Very kind and hospitable hosts! :) willing to help with anything they can at home or outside. This homestay is off the beaten tourist path. But very nice quiet fishing village area. Beach is very close as is a vibrant Catholic community around the Basilica not to far away. The room is simple, A/C and home cooked meals are good!

I had a wonderful visit when I stayed for one night in early November, 2023. I arrived on my bicycle without reservation, and they made me feel very welcome. The room was great and the food was fantastic.

It's a gorgeous property nestled right next to a canal and about a stones throw away from an untouched beach. The care takers are phenomenal and they will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The food is simple yet authentic Kerala food that will ensure that you are satisfied. Its a gem of a place about 20kms away from the main Alleppey town.

I had an overnight stay at this property. It's on the main road with wide access for vehicles. Hosts are welcoming and food is awesome. Location is next to canal and ambience is a paradise for nature lovers. We stayed at first floor rooms. Has a good sitout. These were old traditional rooms. Windows are closed to let ACs cool the rooms. I would have preferred more of airy and natural light facing rooms. Bathroom are big, open, well lit and ventilated. Overall location, price point, service it's an excellent deal.

If you are the lover of calm scenic Homestay. You are in the right place. A beautiful house sculptured with traditional Kerala ambience which gives you a complete sensation of relaxation. The artefacts gives you an impression of ancient home style of God's own country. Out of my own experience, I would like to share that this place is like a hidden treasure on the banks of the beautiful backwaters. It is surrounded with attractive greeneries which gives you an incredible touch of living close to the nature. Hums of the birds and sounds of the beetles will give you a whole sense of retreat from the city life. The house has virtuous amenities which makes you feel comfortable. A lovely place to stay for a small family.

This was my first home stay experience. This is a place to go to escape all your work tension and relax for a while by hanging out on the banks of the back waters, shipping tea, chatting with family and friends. We were 7 member group and stayed here for 2 nights. You'll be in the midst of a natural habitat of plants, birds, insects and ofcourse water. You can choose your food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It tastes superb. The caretaker is a very friendly and humble person. He also took us for a boat ride on request. Overall it was a great experience for us all. I would recommend this place to all the people who loves nature.

Really nice place in a tucked away quiet corner. It's pretty close to the beach and that's also so quiet and beautiful. Our hosts at Chekkal Homestay were also really wonderful - had some amazing food at their place, they arranged for our transport for travel and were very accommodating :)
