Excellent ambiance prevails throughout. The former summer palace of the King of Cochin has been converted into a government guest house. Strategically located in the heart of Aluva town, it boasts a sprawling plot of several acres near the river. The surroundings are serene and tranquil, with lush greenery all around. The balcony offers a picturesque river view, while the front verandah provides a garden view. The room rent and food costs are remarkably affordable. Although options may be limited, the food served is undeniably tasty.

Very good ambiance.Old Summer palace of King of Cochin turned to government guest house. In the heart of Aluva town, huge plot with a few acres of land and near to the river. Calm and quiet place with greenery all around. The balcony is with river view. Front verandah is with garden view. The room rent and cost of food are very much affordable. Eventhough there is not much options, the food served is tasty.
Amazing rooms. Awesome views. Brilliant service. We enjoyed every minute we stayed there
Good place and atmosphere. You can't just enter the premises without booking rooms. There's a guard and he will restrict the entry. Free roam was allowed a while back. Not now. In the back there are certain beautiful river banks where you can enjoy the beauty of the aluva river and the temple with a great view
The Palace of king marthanda varma is presently converted as Kerala state PWD guest house. Situated on the banks of river periyar overseeing manappuram mahadeva temple.
The review is about the new building, which now, serves as the government guest house. They have twelve rooms and two VIP suites. The booking is online by the guest house management system of government of Kerala. It's one of the most sought after guest house, primarily due to its proximity with COK. So, it will be difficult to get rooms unless you're a government official. It's located on the banks of periyar river and the balcony of every room opens to the view of periyar river and the holy aluva riversands.. Rooms are very basic and spacious with balcony. In Few of the rooms ,TVs and ACs don't work. It's just because the government process for repair work is an arduous task and will take a long period usually. Food from the restaurant was good. Managing staffs were helpful.. Overall a decent affair for a stay in aluva.. NB: The very same compound have the famous aluva palace of Cochin Royals.. which is in ruins for the most part of it. Sad to see the sorry state of affairs. When your Heritage is being neglected, the cultural links with the younger generation are being severed. The palace should be renovated and kept as a heritage site for visits rather than making it into a hotel..
