Once upon the River

Wonderful stopover near Cochin airport. Only 10 minutes drive with complimentary taxi. Superb location on banks of Periyar river. Beautiful room, very nice pool and tasty food in restaurant. Very friendly and accommodating staff. 30 minute Uber drive to large shopping mall. Great final night stay before flight home.

This resort has it all. Spacious rooms. Tasty food. Big pool. Nice ambience. Private pool villas. Gaming options like carroms, badminton, cycling, archery etc. We were a group of 18 friends and family and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended for a stay of a large group of people.

One of the best places I've ever visited. We are from Aluva only but still you'll not feel like you're just 2km away from home. It's a different place altogether. I was with my family and had a great time there!

Booked via booking.com Really enjoy free shutter from airport to hotel. Nice approach to room and introduce the room package. Breakfast just small variety , staff are very good . The Room director , opps forgot the name , they are very good and very really enjoyed. Will boomed again for future

The property is too good and the the river view was totally a refreshing experience . Jayanth made sure the check in process was smooth and transparent. He made sure the property orientation was perfect and each and every one of us were aware of the timings of each operations in the property. Thank you Once upon a river for a memorable experience. We will be back soon with our families too.

Visited this place quite sometime back ( 2023 ) . We were welcomed by a cup of hot ginger tea perfect for the weather and very refreshing, that we requested for one more cup ! The property is amidst lush fruit trees - star fruit, mango, mangostein, rambutan, etc. True to the name , it's by the river having a calm view. Pricing is at par with the services. Lookout for deals or have a conversation with the reservation desk for good rates. We were a group of 5. Suitable for a getaway / staycation for a large or small crowd. Amenities : - We booked a Twin Double bed room for our ladies staycation. The room came with a spacious ensuite bathroom. The Room was spacious too with Tv, coffee table, Air conditioning, ceiling fan and apt lighting. - There is reception area and very warm welcoming staff at service . - The property has a swimming pool. - A good walkway trail around the property. - An outdoor party area / gathering area. - A restaurant : We had breakfast in the morning which included local breakfast delicacies and the standard bread-butter-egg-tea-coffee-juice assortment. Since I am from the local area I can vouch for the delicious breakfast we had. - Room service : This I rate an average. We ordered lunch on outdoor dining space on our floor overlooking the property. That was ok and food was average. The food we ordered in our room at night was not at all good. The property was on full booking capacity that day and I guess they were short staffed. - Recreational activities - : There are other recreational activities like archery, darts, cartons etc . However we did not use those. - Car parking is available inside the property. - International Airport and Metro to Kochi is just a short drive away. Well connected via bus routes and cab / auto services . - Town access to local eateries, grocery, religious prayer structures ( All religions), bank facilities, ticket booking and all other shopping needs. Ideally you can have breakfast at the property and have the other meals from around the town. Happy Staycation !

Once Upon the River - takes you into a different time zone |visited with family for a day stay just for change.|Wanted to get away from all yet didn't wanted to spend hour's in travelling.|This location was perfect for us.|It's tucked away in a scenic world near the river yet just stones away from the city. Once you enter the vibe will catch on.|Right from the entryway to the decor landscapes everything will catch ur attention.|Pro's |ROOMS |Extremely tidy and pleasant. Beds are comfortable and clean washroom with running hot water all the time.|Hot water kettle and Tea / Coffee packet was provided (also it was re-filled on request )|Parking |Ample parking space inside the resort & besides it.|SERVICE |The staff is extremely helpful and polite. What my husband loved was the way our request was handled. They weren't hesitant on accommodating our request at any time Kudos to the TEAM||Recreational |There's a game room in the 100 year old building - has caram chess badminton dart cycling options |Nearby area-|It's within city so it's pretty accessible and there's restaurant shop's around to explore.|As it's located near the Bridge on periyar river one can take evening walk to see the sunset - though it's not relaxing with all the noice still it's nice way to explore.|It has temples nearby but we didn't want to explore much.||Cons - |What I would request is that the Management should have a little bit of adjustment on the rules.|I communicated through WhatsApp and noticed that conversation lacked the hospitality that in person I experienced.|It was Hubby's birthday and I had requested if there's anything special that be done but first they said NO|Then they sd can arrange a towel arrangement and few petals.|It would have been AWESOME if they had wished him on arrival or offered any sweet |A touch of personalization is what sets one apart |Though there was a towel arrangement and few baloons it lacked the birthday touch. |A note of Happy Birthday would have added the extra zest to our day.|It's the little details that count |As I would have loved to have my cup of tea near the swing but couldn't becoz of the rules ...|Just near the swing is the restaurant so it's hardly a few meters away. In such an atmosphere one wants to do little things which otherwise we won't be able to.| When we checked in the toiletries weren't properly replaced as there was used bottles, with a small toilet roll paper - these items were replaced once we informed the staff. Their service was fantastic so this hiccup can be ignored.|Swimming pool |At edges the tiles are out and corners are a bit sharp. It will be great if these details are taken care. Would help if there's a Toilet added (only shower now) near the pool so it's convenient when with kid's instead of rushing towards rooms when in need. |Games room didn't had enough sitting |Cycle weren't in good condition with no option for average height person.|Property |Though it's a beautiful property and maintained well - what I would like to request is to add one or more swings for adults. Only one adult swing is comfortable to sit and talk is available which is inconvenient when there are more guests.|Food |We didn't order food from the restaurant as we explored restaurants near it. Resort prices we felt were too high |Breakfast was included in the package and was good limited options though.|Overall a great place to unwind & recharge I will definitely revisit

The restaurant offers decent buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner (better to make a reservation prior). The whole area is in the midst of an orchard.
