Jeswin could not have been more accommodating. I arrived a day earlier than planned due to travel issues and he ensured I was in my room shortly after I got there. I loved my cottage room and shower that had the tree in the bathroom! I opened my doo and the lake was right there. So peaceful and beautiful to have that view every day. Jeswin offered some breakfast options and the site was also linked to local restaurants who delivered food and drink to your door in minutes.

We are two older travelers with a combined 100 years of travel experience - in around 100 countries around the world. What I mean by that is that we have seen and experienced a lot, and have been to hundreds of destinations and accommodations. With that said, we can say with deep conviction: We experienced two highlights here in two respects.||Firstly, there are the backwaters with their network of lakes and very wide and narrow canals. I had already experienced a multi-day trip on a houseboat 16 years ago and this time I booked two different 4-hour trips in a "Shikara" on site. A trip on a Shikara through narrow and very narrow canals - past the villagers who live and work here - is a completely different experience than getting to know the comfort of a houseboat. If you can afford it, you should definitely try both types of discovery.||And now to the accommodation. The exceptional location alone is a top recommendation.|# From the country road, which is only about 250 m away, you can take a tuktuk for a small fee and take just a few minutes to the town of Alleppey, which is 3 to 4 km away.|# The small complex itself, with just a few rooms in the typical wooden style of the country, is located right on the water. The two front rooms on the upper floor in particular - the ones with the deck chairs and large balconies - offer a perfect view of the boat traffic. Together with their cozy interior design, they also offer an authentic and very pleasant ambience.||Jeswin, the busy owner, is also great... always smiling and friendly, very helpful, gives reliable information and simply takes care of everything. Therefore: 2 x 5 stars and thank you for your support.||By the way, we were here for 5 active days with 6 nights. That was by no means too long.

This family owned homestay has a great location overlooking the backwaters on the outskirts of Allepey. |Jeswin the owner's son could not have been more helpful and did everything he could to make our stay a success. He provided information on places to eat, walk and hiring boats. It's a great place to sit, relax and watch the boats drift along the canal.|While our room was clean and spacious the narrow wooden wall divide meant your neighbours were almost in the room with you! Along with the closeness of your neighbours the rooms themselves are a little dated and need to be upgraded. |An enjoyable visit to a place with great potential.

Wonderful location and building complex, everything made of wood... The owner is very kind and helpful. Our friends stayed in an upstairs room, the view from the small balcony is very atmospheric: small and large boats come and go. I highly recommend the morning canoeing. We stayed in the small hut, which I wouldn't recommend so much because the room is small, you can hear every sound, but it is also cheaper than the others.

The location is truly unreal--calm, peaceful, and perfect for relaxation. The backwater view is stunning, and in the evenings, we enjoyed sitting outside our rooms, soaking in the serene scenery and watching boats pass by. The rooms are designed in a classic wooden style, adding a traditional and cozy charm that perfectly complements the tranquil surroundings. The host was exceptionally kind and helpful, providing all necessary details in advance and promptly answering any additional questions with great suggestions. If you're looking for a serene, picturesque getaway with a touch of rustic elegance, this is the perfect place.

Mayalayam Lake Resort is a perfect place for those seeking peace and a close connection with nature. Situated right on the backwater canals, it offers breathtaking views and direct access to the water - enjoying a morning coffee on the terrace with such a landscape is truly a pleasure. The staff deserves special recognition - incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive to guests' comfort. The atmosphere here feels authentic, and the hospitality makes you feel genuinely welcome. However, the rooms could use some refreshing, especially the bathrooms. In some of them, instead of a shower, there is only a tap and a bucket for pouring water, which might be a downside for some guests. Nevertheless, if your priority is an exceptional location and great service, Mayalayam Lake Resort is definitely worth considering.

Such a wonderful place to stay, right on the edge of the water. Jeswin who runs the place is amazing and will help you with anything and everything that you desire. And Jos will keep you entertained with stories and songs, if you so wish. I booked for 2 nights and ended up staying for 4. Highly recommend. Thanks for a wonderful stay :)

We absolutely loved our stay here, it was the perfect place to experience the backwaters from. Jeswin was so helpful with organising a boat trip and an all day canoe trip. So nice to relax on the balcony and order food (which was great) to eat there. The breakfast you can order is simple but perfect. Tiny bit noisy from the big houseboats but with earplugs you're golden. Would come back in a heartbeat!!
