HighPoint Homestay, Thirthahalli, Shimoga

Great location, right in middle of thirthahalli town but situated in quiet residential area. Good choice for anyone traveling to thirthahalli to attend any weddings or other functions nearby.

Very disappointed with the owner Gautam. We did not stay here, I'm not writing a review about rooms and services. I'm writing about the insensitivity of the owner. We booked a room for 4 days 10 days prior and the owner accepted the booking until the last minute. He cancelled our booking when we reached the home stay (we arrived a little bit late 10pm because of heavy rains and our mobile phones were dead) we called him and informed him about the situation and told that we'll be reaching a bit late because of the rain. When we reached the home stay he straight away rejected saying he cancelled our booking and told us to go search some other lodge (if we wanted to book a lodge we could have he don't need to tell us, we booked in the home stay only because of the good reviews from the Google maps). I was very disappointed by his behaviour, at midnight where should we find another place to stay? If he had any issues with our stay he should have informed us beforehand not after reaching the stay. Very unprofessional and insensitive owner. (He refunded our advance tho) But please rethink if you are planning to book here, the owner will not think twice to cause any inconvenience. We then booked our room in nearby Mayura Deluxe fortunately they had rooms available.

This gorgeous heritage property of Gautham and Bindu is so warm and cosy. We loved staying there and were overwhelmed by the kindness and hospitality of our host. We slept peacefully into the calm night to be woken by the melodious chirping of birds at dawn ..........simply loved it Will be back here again for sure !

I had an opportunity to attend a cousins marriage at Thirthahalli, shimoga and thought of staying close to the marriage venue. The high point home stay was the one I found close by and hence booked a an accomodation for my family for two nights stay !! As the rentals per day was higher than the Royal orchid hotel room which I stayed prior to checking in, I felt it would be an excellent accomodation!! But my expectations turned out to be very sour !! The property needs a small signage since I found it quite difficult to identify during the night after attending marriage. The home away from home requires lot of upgrade like a ward robe to keep my clothes, couple of glass tumblers with some RO water to drink and a good pocket spring mattress to rest in the night !! It was very difficult to spend the night since mosquitoes were not allowing me to sleep !! A mosquito net could have been provided !! My back pained after I woke up in the morning !! Some basic toiletries like a bar of soap / shampoo and tooth paste was not there. Some how I never felt asking the host for every small requirement!! The stay is non AC and you may swet a little bit if there is no power!! The fan was slow and the switch was far to operate !! There is a saying that devil lies in details !! One needs to audit a property thoroughly before put up for guests since holidays can go haywire when you have high expectations!! Some how the High point home stay was my low point of my four day trip to shimoga and Thirthahalli !! Hope things will be better with my feed back !?

The property can be easily located. The house is beautiful and the host is friendly and helpful. There is space for car parking inside the compound. The room was clean and big, the beds were comfortable and there are chairs kept on the balcony where you can relax. Enjoyed my stay here.

We had a serene experience at "HighPoint Homestay ". The accommodation was clean, comfortable and cozy. The actual high point was the interactions we had with Gautam and Bindu; sharing warm stories and tasting delicious homemade food. We arrived as guests and left as friends. If it's Thirthahalli, it's always HighPoint for us. Thank you Gautam & Bindu.

My husband Biswajit and I are on a road trip from Gurgaon to Karnataka... ( We have not returned to Gurgaon yet, and we wish we could continue for ever). Tirthanhalli was supposed to be a go in-between stay. However, because of Gautam and Bindu ( owners) of this homestay, Tirthanhalli turned out to be a memorable place for us that came alive because of the hospitality offered. The town at first glance was nondescript ( and so were the other hotels) till we understood the historical and spiritual significance....please read up on it...( The Shiva temple established by Parashuram on the banks of river Tunga amongst many ancient temples)...Tirthanhalli is some 2 hours from Kudli, the Sangam of Tunga and Bhandra. Adi Shankara Charya sat here and meditated on the banks. The history of this place is mine boggling. None of this we could have experienced in the fullest had we not found this homestay. We had a beautiful spacious room, clean and aesthetically appealing. The home that belongs to Gautam and Bindu is a heritage home, the inner courtyard is nothing short of blissful while the veranda upstairs is divine with a swing where you can spend your time relaxing. Parking is not an issue, it's safe and convenient. Even though the home is very central it's in one of the quiet alleys. As regarding the breakfast that Bindu cooks and serves, it has been one of the finest we have experienced in our trip. Gautam, we found to be one of the finest gentleman to have come across. Both Biswajit and I hope that we have found a friend in Bindu and Gautam... Thankyou for your hospitality.
