Third rated Homestay owned by a weird owner with a school master like attitude. I had called this person (Chandrasekhar uchil) and specifically told him that I am visiting for my anniversary and I am also accompanied with my in laws. I asked if there are two separate rooms and he said yes. We agreed for a price of 3.5 k for which I paid 500 rs advance and 3k was the remaining amount for 2 rooms. Upon checking in, I noticed that there is only one bedroom and when I enquired about the same, the host gets agitated and justifies saying that the kitchen corridor is considered as a separate room and many such couples have slept in the corridor which is inches away from the toilet door. While I was trying to figure out where to have lunch for the day as restaurants are more than 3 km away from the place (mind you this place says they offer food but they don't and there is not even a notice saying that they don't), and also trying to understand if I need to pay the remaining amount as I have not been offered an additional room, the host keeps calling asking for the remaining amount. I did pay him the amount and politely told him that perhaps there has been a miscommunication about the additional room. To my further horror, I find that he has allotted the room for two days even though I booked for one day. When I told him that I am checking out within a day so please refund the additional amount, he now says look you have bought additional members and also 24 hr check in policy. I had a WhatsApp screenshot clearly mentioning it's a one day stay. Having pocketed the additional money he refused the refund. Apart from that this person was pesky to say the least, advising us to make our daughter wear a diaper (zero points for common sense and etiquette) switching off the geyser and constantly walking around in our private space. Not once did he bother if we wanted anything but rather kept advising on how we should use basic household items. If he was such a stickler for rules, he should have written a list of rules and pasted in the room. Nonetheless a forgettable experience and a forgettable room.

Great place to hang with friends and family! The entire house was very clean. It also has a functional kitchen. The host, Mr. Sadanand is very sweet and is always there for any kind of help. Beach is just 100m away and the river is just 50m away. It is a peaceful place. I highly recommend!

An amazing homestay.very cleanly maintained and spacious washrooms. Has a seperate small room where a small dining table available for your needs. The hosts are very friendly and at the same time don't interfere much. They are helpful and available anytime. The location is in a silent pristine area. Which makes ur mind so calm. Just 2 min walk from a silent unpopulated beach. Almost like ur own personal beach. The sunsets are good. Early mornings are fresh. The temp gets a Lil hot during afternoons but evening and morning are amazing. Definitely gonna visit same homestay if I travel there again. If you want peace of mind and some silent time away from hustle and bustle of city, this is the place to go They have good wifi as well which helped us work as well Tip: maybe coffee or tea could be provided once.

I recently stayed at Seashine Homestay and had a wonderful experience. The homestay is located in a beautiful, peaceful setting by the sea, and the accommodations were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed during our stay. The highlight of our time at Seashine Homestay was definitely the delicious breakfast that was prepared for us each morning. The food was fresh, homemade, and cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed spending time exploring the surrounding area and taking in the stunning coastal views. Overall, I would highly recommend Seashine Homestay to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway by the sea. The wonderful hosts and the homstay itself is truly a gem.

Update: I reduced my rating by one point as I got a volley of abuse from the hosts (on Whatsapp) after I published my review. Very poor attitude. NOTE: I am certain that many of the earlier reviews for this place are fake, some written by local villagers with the same surname. Just returned from a 3-night stay at the homestay. It is in a decent location, very close to a reasonably clean and secluded section of the Someshwara beach south of Mangalore. There is just one accommodation unit in the premises, that is attached to the house where the hosts live. The unit has one room, another smaller room which was once a kitchen and a large bathroom. The room can accommodate up to 4 adults - two on a king size bed and two on a mattress laid on the floor. The pillows were very thin and uncomfortable. The room and kitchen both seemed old with very low ceiling height and the paint peeling off in some places. The kitchen in particular was not well maintained with an old refrigerator lying there for no reason. Strangely, there was no mirror in the bathroom, so shaving was a challenge! The house has a garden with many fruit trees. They have a very cute and friendly pet dog. The house is on a narrow alley which was ok for our compact SUV, but can be a problem for large SUVs to manoeuvre. The hosts seem genuinely interested in making their venture a success and are managing on their own without any additional help. They are humble and generally helpful, but a couple of minor incidents left a bad taste. For e.g. the rooms are not cleaned during the stay, towels and soap were provided only after asking and not changed during the stay, the hosts prefer that cups and plates they provide during breakfast are washed after use etc. While it was not a major hassle for us and we did not make it an issue, these expectations may not be palatable to many guests. On the afternoon of the check-in day, I received a call from the host asking us to come after some time as there was a police inspection/raid happening. We were still a couple of hours away from the place, but it was not the ideal message to hear. Because of the garden, there are plenty of ants and worms of various kinds roaming near and even inside the rooms. At one point there were hundreds of dead ants right near the main door entrance. On requesting the hosts that the dead ants be cleaned, my women family members got some sharp comments from the hostess which were not in good taste, but we did not respond and politely kept quiet. Another awkward incident was that the hosts took my id card at the time of check-in and said they would return it only at the time of checkout. In my 20+ years of staying in numerous homestays across India, this is the first and only time this has happened. In spite of all these issues, my family and I did not raise a protest and were polite throughout to the hosts. The pricing is reasonable and includes breakfast. Home made breakfast was provided. While the taste was ok, one item only was provided and the quantity is limited; may not be sufficient for those who prefer eating a hearty breakfast. The locality is very calm and laid back. The Someshwara temple is around 2.5 kms from the house, but otherwise there is not much to do in the immediate vicinity. The beach in these parts immediately south of Mangalore has a steep slope which makes it unsafe to venture into the waters. Overall an average experience.

Very calm, greeny and spacious home stay. Food served were very good and homely. Sea beach at walkable distance after crossing the main road .Owner and stuff of the house are very friendly.Temple is nearby 1 to 2km. Very nice place to stay. 1 or 2 mins wakable from the beach. Room quality is good. Beach is not so crowdy So feel relax. Just close your eyes and feel sea sound.
